Rose and Pietro decided to reveal the baby's gender one month before the shower. And the shower was two months before her due date. The baby was due October 27th, so that put their gender reveal in June. They had called an old family friend to help them shoot a video in black and white. At the end, the colors would be revealed and whichever they happened to have on was the gender. Blue if they were having Arlo, or pink for Everest.
Everyone was gathered in the home theater, from the original Avengers to the youngest grandbaby Avengers. Even Peter Parker, their camera man. Jace hadn't been happy when he found out Peter found out the baby's gender before he did. It was his precious Rosie. Why did Peter get to find out before her father did?! But, he got over it, because now him and Saph could be just as excited as everyone else.
The two expectant parents stood in the front of the theater to address everyone. Rose was wearing a white bow in her hair, and Pietro had a matching one around his neck. Everyone was wearing a bow, either in their hair or as a tie, that matched the color they thought Rose was having. Her, Pietro, and Peter all had neutral white because they knew.
"Well, thank everyone for gathering with us." Rose announced with a charming smile. "We're really excited to show you all the video we made, and share with you whether this is Arlo or Everest."
"We won't keep you waiting." Pietro purred in his accent. "Thank you Mister Parker for your help with the reveal. And, without further ado," he turned the lights all the way off, "roll the clip." The two leaned against the wall, ready to watch everyone's reactions.
It opened with Rose staring into her closet. She pulled out two identical dresses, and looked at both. One got put back, and the other she walked away with it in hand. Then it cut to Pietro looking in the mirror while buttoning up a shirt. From there it jumped from quick shot to shot of makeup being put on, a tie being tied, heel straps being fastened, and laces being tied. Finally, the pair is seen together. They walk down the hall to a room marked with two signs. The room door that everyone had seen already. It had two signs hung on it. One read "Arlo", the other "Everest". They waked into the empty room and glanced around. The video cut to them standing in the middle of the room. Then, very slowly, the color began to fade in. Rose's dress was baby blue, and a white bow was in her hair. Pietro's shirt was the same blue shade, his bow tie white. And behind them, the bedroom walls were painted dark blue. The final shot was of them taking Everest's sign off the door, just leaving Arlo. The video faded to black and the lights came on. No one moved for a moment. Pietro and Rose glanced nervously at each other. But then, a high pitched squeal came from the center of the bunch. Shasta came running over and embraced her big sister.
"Totally called it! Congrats you two!!!! My nephew Arlo!" All the other excitement from everyone else came now. There was hugs and handshakes all around. Everything was going to be great! Another boy in the house. The first great grandbaby Avenger. A happy, healthy Arlo Maximoff.
"What made you decide on Arlo?" Pepper asked, already thinking of what she was going to get her granddaughter as the shower gift. Something personalized. Rose looked over at Pietro for him to explain.
"It is the Sokovian word for hero. That's what we want for him. To be a hero, even if he isn't born with powers. He can still be a hero to one person. Either way, that's where it comes from."
"What about Barton?" Clint teased. "Where did that come from?" Pietro chuckled.
"You are quite cocky, no? But it seems right based off your youngest son."
"Dude, that's when I thought you were dead."
"Well I survived. You didn't see that coming? The captain said if we died, to walk it off. So, here I am." Everyone laughed a little before Rose wrapped things up.
"Come on, there is cake in the kitchen. This momma needs cake." And with that, everyone went upstairs to eat sweets and talk about the arrival if Arlo Buchanan Barton Maximoff.
