Chapter [5] MATHALAND

Jessica's P.O.V

After Drake escaped from class, it was left with only a few people. I was packing my things and still thinking of what happened during Calculus. Well it was partly my fault because I had poked with with the sharp end of my pencil. I felt sorry for Miss.Lowland but why do I feel proud of Drake? Ew!

I picked up my backpack and was about to get out when Miss.Lowland called me back.

"Yes, Miss.Lowland." I said when I got to her table.

"There is a Mathalon that's going to take place in October. I want you to partake in this event." She explained

"Um... I don't know. What's it about? Am I the only one in this competition?" I asked

"No. Phoebe, Max, Dylan, Tara and Pete are also part. You are in a group, representing Blue Hills High School, which is our school. You will be divided into groups of two, a boy and a girl. Each group will have their question to answer, against other schools and at the end of it all, they'll tally up all the marks for each section and the winner will be chosen. Miss.Lowland said. "Here's the flier."

She pulled her desk drawer open and rummaged around in it. Then she pulled out a pamphlet and showed it to me.

"Well okay but how many schools are in the competition?" I asked.

She smiled"We'll talk about that tomorrow at the Math club so don't be late. You may go."

"Yes Miss.Lowland." I walked out.

The first bell rang and the hallway began to clear. I walked briskly to my locker to change books and Queen Melissa was waiting. Great.

"Finally!" She exclaimed when I got to my locker."Where on earth have you been? I've been waiting on you for ages and the first bell has rang!"

"Relax, Mel. Don't exaggerate. I heard the bell ring. Miss.Lowland made me stay back to tell me something about some Math competition that she wants me to participate in." I opened my locker and put my Calculus textbooks and notebooks in it.

Melissa stared at me. "A math competition? That's like, so lame." She waved her hand in the air. "Anyways, since you were in Calculus class this morning, I need real information on what happened with Drake and Miss.Lowland today in Calculus class. I heard some goth girl talking about it and I'm dying to find out what happened."

I picked my Chemistry textbook, notebook and homework books and slammed my locker."One, it's not lame and two, what do you need that Drake and Miss. Lowland information for?" I asked.

Melissa seemed impatient. "One, I don't care and two, you know, for my blog." She tapped her phone with her hand.

"Oh right." I rolled my eyes.

See, here's the thing. Melissa has this blog called "Juicy Info By MelBabe" that updates everyday. She talks about who's in charge and who's slipping out of charge, latest school information, new parties and events, a person's behavior etc. Everyone in the school reads it. Everyone. Well except the school principal.Popular girls, drop dead gorgeous boys, cool teachers, you name it, they read it. Even I'm forced to read because she's my best friend. I'd rather be working some Math questions. That's why they call her Queen of Gossip, in a good way though.

"So tell me now." Mel was saying.

I grabbed her hand. "Later. Second period is almost starting. We'll be late."

She bent down and I saw for the first time that her bag was by my locker. She picked it."Well okay but you promised. You'll tell me later, right?"

"Sure" I said and we ran to class.

Please don't let Drake be in Chemistry. Please don't let Drake be in Chemistry. Please don't let Drake be in Chemistry. I thought as I ran with Mel to second period., If Drake was in Chemistry, then all my classes are gonna suck.

But I knew that even none of his generation will be in Chemistry class.

Boy, was I wrong.
