It was finally happening. I was finally living my dream. The second I walked through those glass doors it would all become real.
I was standing outside the glass doors with my hand positioned on the handle. I was so nervous but so excited. I took a deep breath and pulled open the doors to the BAU, the Behavioral Analysis Unit. I was officially a supervisory special agent of the FBI.
I walked inside and looked around at the room full of desks and people. No one really noticed me, but I guess that's a good thing at the moment. I turned and saw the office I was looking for. I walked past a group of desks that had the members of my new team sitting at them. I had heard so many amazing things about them. I walked up a few steps and knocked on the door of senior SSA Aaron Hotchner, the BAU's unit chief.
"Come in," a male voice said.
I walked into the office and saw Aaron Hotchner sitting at his desk doing paperwork. I heard he did that a lot. He noticed me and stood up, extending his arm. I walked over and shook his hand."Hello sir, I'm Acadia Bennett, the new member of the team," I explained.
"Please, you're part of the team now, call me Hotch. The rest of them do," he said motioning towards that group of desks I had passed outside of his office.
"Well Hotch, I can't explain how grateful I am that I got this opportunity. It's been a dream of mine for quite a while to work with you and the rest of the team," I said. Hotch nodded his head.
"That's wonderful. Why don't you head to the conference room at the end of the hall and I'll gather the team so you can introduce yourself and we can talk about our newest case," he stated. I walked out of his office and down the hall into the conference room. There was a round table in the middle of it and a screen hanging on the wall behind it. I looked out the window and saw Hotch gathering the rest of the team.
I wasn't too sure what to do, so I placed my bag on the back of a chair and stood next to it, awaiting the arrival of the team. In a matter of seconds they started filing into the conference room. None of them sat at the table, they all stood waiting to be introduced, which I found very kind. I could already tell I was going to love working with them by just looking at them. Hotch walked in and made his way to the front of the table.
"Everybody, this is Acadia Bennett, she's the new addition to our team. Please introduce yourselves," he said and then sat down.
One by one each member of the team walked up to me and introduced themselves. The first was a blonde haired woman who was wearing very bright colors. She had pink glasses and had a fuzzy pen in her hand.
"I'm Penelope Garcia. I'm the wonderful, sexy computer nerd of the team. I don't really travel with you guys unless it is absolutely necessary," the woman said. We shook hands and she walked over to the screen and turned it on, then sat down at the table. The next was another blonde haired woman, but she wasn't wearing clothes that were as attention demanding as Penelope. She extended her hand towards me and we shook hands.
"Hi, I'm Jennifer Jareau. Everyone calls me JJ. It's great to have you on the team," she politely said.
A very handsome man walked up to me and shook my hand. He was very muscular."I'm Derek Morgan," he said snd gave a friendly smile.
"He's the muscle on the team," said a tall, skinny man from behind Morgan. He had shaggy hair and was holding a paper copy of what I was guessing was the case we were going to be working on. "I'm Dr. Spencer Reid."
"Reid here is a genius," said a man I recognized very easily. The famous author and senior SSA David Rossi. I was a big fan of his books. The last one to introduce themselves to me was a woman about Jennifer's height with shoulder length black/brown hair. She looked at me and smiled, grabbing my hand and shaking it.
"I'm Emily Prentiss. I've been on the team for a few years, but I'm the newest member of the BAU, so I'll show the ropes," she acknowledged. They all sat down at the table and I took my seat between Emily and Jennifer.
"Okay everybody, our case located in Navarre, Florida, but they're is nothing bright and sunny about what happened to these people," started Penelope. "Two women have been found. Both were raped and cause of death was a gunshot wound to the heart. The first victim, Rachel Morris, was found on Monday in front of a high school. She had been dead for five hours. The second victim, Monica Johnson, was found on Wednesday in the park. She had been dead for four hours."
I looked at the pictures of the women and their crime scenes that were showing on the screen. Both women were physically similar, with brown hair and blue eyes. The two women seemed positioned at the crime scenes. Each was sitting on a bench with their hand on their laps.
"Whoever the UnSub is, they're working quickly. This could very quickly turn into a spree killing," Hotch stated while staring at his tablet. "We need to get there before that happens. Wheels up in 30."
