-1 day after chapter 11-

Everyone had prepared themselves to save Aphmau. Katelyn, Aaron, Laurance, Garroth, Emmalyn, and Kenmur were sharpening swords and tools. While Sky, Nick, Ghetto, AK, Barney, Jin, and Shark were loading their guns and checking their supplies. A certain wyvern flew from the heavens onto the plaza concrete, catching everyone's attention.

"Is everyone ready?" Garroth asked, looking to the group.

Everyone nodded their heads in signal they had all they needed. Everyone mounted a horse, and Raven began racing through the skies.

The horses ran at full speed, testing their limits, to keep up with the quick airborne creature.

-----

Aphmau weakly grunted as the cell door closed. "I hope that taught you a lesson." Ross snarled as he walked out of the lab. Aphmau held back the tears that began to flush her eyes. She looked all around her body to see the forming bruises, and wiped off a little blood from her forehead from previously being thrown into the cell bars.

Ross never looked like the kind of guy to beat someone, but Aphmau realized that if he went this far to pry the knowledge of her gift from her conscience, there must be a good reason.

She wanted to believe inside he was a good person, but what has shown her that he truly is?

-----

Raven shot into the canopy, signaling that they had reached their destination. Nick was the first to slow down and leap from his horses back. Everyone soon followed.

"Alright everyone. Look in every nook and cranny for a secret place Aphmau could have been held." Laurance commanded, getting various nods and signals that the command was being followed.

Sky and Barney climbed up trees in search of a possible secret lever or button. Nick, Ghetto, Shark, and AK searched the multiple boulders found in the area. Garroth and Laurance looked in caves and holes. Katelyn, and Aaron looked in the roots and on the trunks of trees. Emmalyn and Kenmur were busy fixing up a device they made awhile ago to help with the Scaleswind incident to locate body temperatures.

After the area was searched, everyone met back up. Looks of frustration and anger lighted every face among the group.

"UGH. This is ridiculous! We've looked everywhere! Yet somehow we haven't found any possible clues to her whereabouts!" Sky shouted.

"I couldn't agree more. What exactly are we missing?" Nick said, his expression showing that he was racking his brain for answers.

Aaron huffed, leaning against a tree. Something gave into his weight and he almost fell backwards, if it wasn't for his reflexes pulling him away from it. Everyone looked at the tree. What they saw was a secret trap door that had been pushed open from Aaron's weight.

Nick peeked inside. "There's a switch!" He gasped. "Well what are you waiting for? Pull it!" Ghetto cheers.

Nick pulls the lever down, a door opening sounds, and everyone looks to see the door on the other side of the trunk. Everyone flows into the door, walking down the spiral staircase with nothing but dim lanterns to light the way.

They come to a closed iron opening where bright light emitted from the bottom of the door. The group opened it and stepped inside, what they saw shocked them.

There was a fairly large cell on the right wall of the opening, stretching across the entire wall. On the right wall of the door stood a desk with brewing stands and messy piles of books and papers. Standing inside the cell bars was their beloved lord. Her body battered from the beating, she looked terrible. She looked weakly at them, her gaze filled with anxiousness, fright, and a hint of hope. She opened her mouth to say something, but as soon as she tried to use her vocal cords to speak she began hacking in a coughing fit. She raised a hand to her neck, and waited till the coughing died down to lower it.

Sky and Barney rushed to the cell door, rattling it. Locked. "Of course we need a key!" Sky sighs frustratedly.

"Looks around for one." Barney commanded. The groups looked around for the key, checking on the walls and through the documents.

"Looking for something?" A voice sounded from the entrance of the lab. Everyone turned their heads to look at the narwhal, holding a key from a chain that gripped the top of his fingers and cascaded loosely down his hand as he held it.

Laurance growled. "You will pay for what you did to Aphmau!" He lunged at Ross, but the swift aquatic swerved to the side. He skidded toward the cell bars, standing a few feet in front of them. Laurance lunged again at Ross. This time the doctor pulled out a syringe and held it in front of him, awaiting for Laurance to run into it. The brunette had no time to react. Inches away from the syringe, someone reacted.

"DONT TOUCH HIM!"

A white light emitted from Aphmau, she bolted toward to cell bars, they were brittle against the sudden power, and broke without difficulty. She reached Ross, cuffing him at the neck and forcing him backwards. Aphmau let out a furious cry, ad the light grew, enveloping them all into it's glow.

To be continued. . .
