The picture above is the house Olive lives in👻✌

"Mother, wake up"

"ugh"

"mother it's time to wake up" I whispered.

"you need to get up soon or the bread will burn" I said.

"Olive, how are you awake already?"

"The early bird catches the worm" I said in a voice just a bit too cheery.

"Olive, I'll get up in a minute" she said as she pulled the sheets over her head.
I left the room and went down to the sink to get a cup of cold water, I then walked back up and splashed the water in her face.

"The bread is going to burn" I said in a commanding voice.

"okay Olive I'm up, but you're cleaning the sheets" she said, a little grumpy.

"as long as you get the bread!" I shouted back.
I laughed a little as I looked back at the sheets. I always try to make the best out of things. I changed the sheets and took the wet laundry out to the garden and hung it up, I then went back inside and checked the bread. Slightly overcooked. I took them out of the oven before they burnt and put them on the table to cool.

"what are you doing in here, Olive?"
My father asked coldly.

"I'm sorry father, I came to check the bread, I took it out before it burned" I answered.

"you shouldn't be here, you could hurt yourself!"

"I'm not as fragile as you think!" I shouted back.

"How dare you speak to me like that, I am your father, show some respect!" he shouted as he walked over to me and slapped me across the face.

I was almost in tears as I grabbed my satchel and left for school.
I caught up with my friend Ava.

"happy birthday, Olive!" she shouted.

"what?, oh I forgot" I said.

"I genuinely worry about you, you don't even remember your own birthday?" she said surprised.

"what does it matter, no one cares?" I said. It was true, my parents don't remember my birthday and sometimes I forget it myself.

"I care, Olive. I got you something, here, I hope you like it" she said as she handed me a wooden box.

"thanks" I said

"look inside" she asked. I looked in the box and saw a necklace with a wooden dragon charm on it.

"I know how much dragons interest you, so I got my dad to carve this for you" she said.

"Wow, this is amazing, tell your dad that he did a fantastic job, thank you" I said as I took it out of the box and
Put it around my neck.

"it really suits you, it makes you look tough " she said. I smiled at the compliment. Once we got to school and we were sat in our seats, the teacher came in and started the lessons. She taught us more about creatures and stuff, we need to know that because we could encounter them in the future. What a safe world this is (note the sarcasm). Once school ended i got up, grabbed my satchel and left with Ava to walk home.

"How was school, birthday girl?" she asked.

"it was fine, the usual I suppose" I answered.

"well, I think it should have been better than usual, it is your birthday if you hadn't forgotten already?" she said, with a smile on her face.

"How are you always so cheerful?" I asked.

" How are you not, a life full of sadness is a life wasted, and we wouldn't want that would we" she said.

" I suppose " I answered.

Once I got home and entered the house I sprinted up stairs, carrying my dress so as to not trip. Once I got on to my room I lay down on the bed and admired my necklace.

"How thoughtful" I said aloud.

I went to find my mother once I had finished admiring my gift.

I am so sorry it has taken me this long to upload, I've just been busy. I'll try and upload more often 👻✌
