Lux's POV
The flier was nailed to a rickety telephone pole. My eyes focused on the words "go somewhere far away, for no cost."

"Blue," I whispered, tugging at her jacket.

"Guinea pigs needed. Experiments are careful and well performed." She read the flier, eyes never leaving the page. So this is our way out, but I want to stay.

"Are you gonna go?" I asked, shivering. Something wasn't right.

"Yes, it's our only escape from... him." Blue reached for the poster, yanking it from the pole. Suddenly she gasped.

"What is it?" My voice is quick and sharp.

"Th-thirteen and o-older." Blue stuttered, sorrow swelling in her eyes. Tears never formed. I shook my head.

"Better keep this, then." I took the paper from Blue, and folded it into squares. My hand slipped the flier into my pocket. My lips formed a small smirk. Blue smiled. It was then that I realized we were late, the sun was just starting to set.

"Oh no! He'll wring our necks if we're not back in time!" Buru grabbed my hand, and we jetted down the dirt path, never looking back to the greenhouse in which many dead bodies lay. My feet slap the frozen hard ground, vibration coming through my shoes and shaking my bones. Pain shot up my shin, but I kept up the sprint. In front of me, Blue slowed. She turned around and looked me dead in the eye. Then she did something she hadn't done in a very long time.

She hugged me.
