Alex POV
As soon as the words came out of her mouth I thought,"What have I done?" I wrapped my arms around her and held her. Held her, up until she said we needed to tell Katie and Billy thanks and that we'd be leaving.
I got in my car and she said,"Go to the other side. I'm driving." I almost tried to argue but I decided I wouldn't. So she drove us back to her house. Before we got out I said,"Thank you for preventing me from making the biggest mistake of my life."
"Well it's what I would hope you would do for me."
We got out of the car and went inside. Her parents said I could sleepover on the couch because it was really late and my house was about half an hour away.
We both agreed to still watch The Benchwarmers to help calm us down. We sat on the couch under about 20 blankets because it was freezing cold outside, and not much better inside. About thirty minutes into the movie she put her head on my shoulder and said,
"I miss him."
"Me too." I said.
"It's still so hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that he is gone, and there is nothing we can do to bring him back."
"I would give anything to see him again. He did so much for me and I never got the chance to give anything back." I said.
"But we can't be sad forever. We have to stay strong and be happy. For Caleb."
