My daughter, Your mother can not hide you forever. She has forgotten we will live forever, she will grow old and die, and you will remain. Today you turn 18 if I'm lucky this will be your last, so enjoy it my dear Sophia. Drink up celebrate as you have the chance to do so for when I find you, it will be a brief and bloody family reunion. -N
Although I read this brief letter six times already, I re-read it like I just received it. My father wants me dead and in due time he will find me. "Soph, I'm going down to the main campus, are you coming?" Maci asked interrupting my thoughts "yea, give me a sec" I said. Forgetting it was my birthday in fact, it's true my father never forgot it was his first daughter birthday and he reminds me every year with little letters like the previous one. They all become the same in a sense after a while, but he's right he will find me eventually and mother would be long gone. I was so happy my birthday is in spring time, I really didn't like the cold although naturally I'd be a non-feeling person if not for my mom. My father comes from the cold, and hard place which I would describe his personality but my mom came from the earth, all things that's natural like heat and the trees, things that grow and have life. Grabbing my jeans from the computer chair while trying to put on a decent shirt, I knew what was happening before it happened. Maci wouldn't catch me this year, I was prepared. Ten minutes later I looked pretty decent and heading towards the main building, walking through the door all the lights were off. As if I didn't know already the lights turned on and then the whole student body jumped up and said "Happy Birthday Sophie" acting surprised "Oh my god, Maci you did this for me" turning to her "thank you" I said. For the next 4 hours we were partying it up on campus, forgetting the letter I received from my father earlier.
"Sophia-' turned around so fast I forgot being alarmed taps into in the inner vampire 'oh, I'm so sorry I startled you' a guy I never seen before was speaking to me 'happy birthday" he said. "Who are you?" I asked a little more defensive then I intended, "Dimitri-" "Sophie guess whose here? Mrs. Lucindia came' Maci said, not caring if she was interrupting but it was my mother so I didn't mind to much 'what?" I was so shocked cause my mother rarely came to visit. Scanning the room looking for her but couldn't find her, so I tapped into my witch side so I can pin-point her aura and there I felt her she was sitting down waiting for me. I knew exactly where she was at but I wasn't sure for this visit with my mother it could be anything from a simple range of it being it's my birthday or we have to move again father is getting close. Silently I walked the direction it was pulling me to sitting down my mother turned around, smiling at me that warm smile the one I've missed over the months. She sent me to this school one because it was isolated and two because it was big to blend in but small enough for two witches to build a shield over the Academy. "Hello mother' 'happy birthday Sophie' we sat there just stareing at each other, smiling there was no greater joy but to be in the presence of my mother. Lucindia Elise the most powerful witch known but yet looking at her I just saw my mother, my 5'5 light brown hair hazel eye'd mother.
She was the most amazing person I'd known, and witnessing the power she wield in slaying the most powerful vampire in Russia was beyond amazing, of course not the part where that's when my father became the top vampire in charge. "Mommy, I-I missed you so much" standing up reaching for her I just wanted to touch her to feel her again tears trickling down my cheek. She opened up her arms welcoming me in fitting perfectly around her body. We sat there for what seemed like forever just talking, mother and daughter talking about everything and sometimes about nothing. She walked me back to my dorm, tucking me into bed when we reached my dorm room. "When will I see you again?" I asked "hopefully soon, god I've missed you so much' 'please don't leave as long as you have' I said but more like pleaded 'I promise I won't" kissing me on my forehead and then left. But that night I was restless, I went to sleep short after my mother left but to know my father was still looking for me always had me a little on edge.
