The next morning I got up and had breakfast with my Grandparents, and I filled them in on everything from my life. After I had finished, we went for a walk around the campsite and visited some friends of theirs. They were pretty lively for old people.
When we got back to the camper, I grabbed Tornado's bridle and some leather oil, and walked down to the beach. When I got there, I found a tree and leaned against it with all my stuff.
There was a lot of people in the water and on the beach, and the air was filled with the sound of people laughing and talking. After taking it all in, I began concentrating on making Tornado's bridle shine, so I didn't even notice when someone walked up in front of me.
"Aren't you gonna go swimming?" said a boy that looked about the same age as me. I jumped since he startled me.
"Jesus! Are you a freakin ninja or somethin'?" I mumbled. I squinted up at him since the sun was behind him.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, but my question still stands." He was actually kind of hot. He was tall, like me, with blond hair and blue eyes. Wait, he was the boy who caught me staring at him yesterday! He must have noticed the shock and embarrassment on my face, because he started grinning like crazy.
"Yeah, I saw you staring at my amazing body yesterday," he drawled. I try to think of a good comeback before I start blushing like crazy.
"Actually, I was checkin' out the beach, so don't flatter yourself," I replied, smirking. His grin got even bigger, showing off rows of perfectly straight and white teeth.
"Ah, feisty I see," he chuckled."So, you gonna come swimmin' or not?"
"Um, probably not. I wore my bikini just in case, but I'd be a loner in the water, so..."
"Oh, come on. You could come swimmin' with me...?" he pouted."My brother was with me, but he wandered off." he took off his shirt and held out his hand, so I took it and stood up.
"Fine, just a second," I took off my jeans and shirt, and I swear I heard him suck in his breath. I mean, from riding Tornado and playing lacrosse, I was pretty fit, but not like that.
"Let's go," I said. Then I realized that he was holding my hand again, so I pulled it back. We walked down towards the water in silence.
"Why are you so quiet?" He asked
"Well, you are a stranger that I've known for about 2 minutes. Speaking of that, what's your name?"
"Josh, what's yours?"
"Ella." I replied, then I noticed a guy struggling in the water."Oh my gosh!"
"What?!"
"That guys drowning!" I shouted as I ran into the water.
"That's my brother!" exclaimed Josh as I swam towards the guy. He looked like he was about my age, and he had his foot caught in a rope from a dock and he couldn't untangle himself. By the time I got to him he was unconscious, so I quickly got his foot untangled and swam back to the shore with him.
"Call for help!" I shouted. When I laid him on the sand, Josh was calling 9-1-1.
"He's not breathing!" shouted Josh. I started doing CPR, but I knew it wasn't working. I pinched his nose shut, pressed my mouth against his and blew into it. I was starting to lose hope and just about to quit when all of a sudden he took in a big gulp of air. I sat back and breathed a sigh of relief.
"It's okay. Your okay," I said soothingly to him. I turned around and saw Josh standing with a girl. He ran up when he saw his brother was awake.
"Ty! Your going to be just fine." Josh said with tears in his eyes.
"What happened? All I remember is my foot caught, then I blacked out," Ty mumbled quietly.
"You were drowning and Ella here saved you," Josh pointed to me.
"Who's Ella?" He asked while trying to sit up. He groaned and had to lay back down.
"Don't try to sit up right away, just give yourself a minutes," I told Ty.
"That's Ella," replied Josh. Ty looked over at me and I gave him a small smile.
"Thank you," Ty said seriously.
"I'm glad I was here" I reply. "I should go," I wasn't good with thanks, so I'd wanted to leave as soon as possible. I walked over to where my clothes were and Josh followed me, while that girl he was standing with helped Ty up.
"Thank you so much. I owe you." Josh said.
"Like I said before, I'm glad I was here,"
"You saved his life. Thank you again." He wrapped me in a tight hug. I hugged him back, then pulled away.
"How old is Ty?" I wondered.
"He's sixteen, why?"
Hmm... Same age as me...
"Well you look the same age, but you don't look like twins,"
"He's a year younger than me," I nodded and put on my clothes. Then I headed towards the campers. "See ya later," I called over my shoulder as I heard the ambulance sirens in the distance. Then it kinda hit me, I just saved a boy's life.________________________
