"Just relax. Everything's going to be fine."

Her soft voice said as she looked at me. Her smile reached her eyes as they left me for the road. Her hand rested reassuringly on my leg.

"You told me that mom but i still think we should get off the road. I have a bad feeling."

She sighed and shook her head. "We're almost there. Just another half hour. I promise you nothing is going to happen."

"How can you be so sure?"

My eyes looked at the truck that carried large amounts of cut up trees. It shook with each bump it went over. Her hand that once rested on my leg grabbed my chin lightly and made it look at her. Her eyes left the road for only a split second. She smiled at me once more.

"You always get this way when there’s trucks on the road."

"Its not my fault! Dad was killed when a drunk truck driver ran him over."

"I know sweetie but be patient. Relax. Close your eyes and try to sleep. You've been wide awake ever since we left."

She let go of my chin and looked back towards the road. My hands clutched onto the seat and the handle on the door. I took three deep breaths and closed my eyes.

"There, see? It's going to be just fine."

Over hearing something snap, my eyes shot open. I tried to stay calm and tell her to watch out but what came out was a horrifying yell.

"MOM WATCH OUT!"

She snapped her head only for one of the large tree trunks to smash into the car window. I wasn't sure what happened after that but there was screaming and a lot of cars trying to get away from the tree trunks that kept rolling off the back of the truck. Our car finally stopped moving. I managed to open my eyes and look at my surroundings before another car quickly ran into my side of the car causing another chain reaction.

Our car went one way the other went another way. It felt as if I was being pushed back and forth from one way to the next. It felt like forever until the car finally stopped turning and landed upside down with me and what was left of my mother. Everything felt as if it was on fire. I opened my eyes slightly and heard people screaming out in agony or yelling at other people to call 911.

The smell of burning flesh hit my nose so strong it made me gag. I soon realize it was my own skin that was burning. I wanted to move away from the car but i was trapped underneath, my legs being buried underneath metal crushing them instantly. Car doors were opened and some were closed. Dog barks echoed and everything was going black.

"Anyone alive out here?"

A male voice, sounding oh so close to were i was, shouted out. I wanted to have him notice me but everything was going so numb. I opened my mouth to say something, i didn’t hear anything but apparently he did as he and a couple of other people ran over to me. He knelt down in front of me and smiled gently at me.

He looked no older then I did but I didn't want to think about that. His deep chocolate brown eyes looked at my blue eyes and he smiled reassuringly.

"You're going to be alright. I promise. We're going to get the car off of you and you'll be taken somewhere safe."

I forced myself to nod my head. Each time my eyes blinked, i could feel them grow heavier.

"Go ahead, close them."

What if i didn't wake up? What then?

"You will wake up. I promise."

His soft words echoed in my head as my eyes finally closed, sending me into pitch darkness.

"I promise."
