Teenage Detective

Chapter one

It's been a month after winter break, the weather is still cold. You can see people wearing sweaters and gloves every where.

The teacher is talking in a high pitch vioce which is totally annoying, the stuff she's talking about is so obvious that even the kids from kindergarten can understand. You sighed and peeped out through the windows.

"Athena, " your teacher called you suddenly, " pay attention. What's the answer of this question?" She pointed at a question on the black board. " It's five over four." You replied without thinking, and you're confident about your answer. "Right." The teacher said and continued the lesson. You finished most of the homework for today in the rest of the period.

The bell rang, it's finally home time. You started packing your bag but something on the floor caught your eyes. It's a small note saying "Meet us at science lab 5 immediately after school.--- smart Finn". "Who the heck is Smart Finn?" You asked to yourself, knowing that no one is going to answer. There is only one way to find out, you headed to the lab after packing up your bag.

Science lab 5 is at the end of the corridor, it's so old that almost no teacher is using it now. Actually you thought it was abandoned few years ago. You hesitated and opened the door, expecting no one will be there.

But you're wrong.

The light wasn't on, the light of dawn gently lighten up the room. There were a few people inside, they seemed like discussing about something, none of them noticed you. You walked up to them and asked. " So... who's the Smart Finn?" There was an awkward scilence. A guy with deep, attractive brown eyes looked up at you, "it's me, who are you?" The others looked up too and waited for you to answer. " I'm Athena, Athena Hunter. I found a note saying that I should come here. So I came."

They looked at each other, just then a girl with nice blonde hair spoke to you with all little smile, " We're Teenage Detectives, a bunch of smart friends who solve problems and search for the answers of things that people never explain. By the way, my name is Saffron." "Huh? You call yourself smart?" You asked. "Why not if we really are?" Another guy with glasses replied.

"Anyways, why do you guys want me here?" I have nothing to do with you." You was thinking about to leave, a bunch of show off people is not interesting to you at all. All you want to do is to study hard to get full marks and go to a good high school, but the lessons here is not even hard for you, life is boring, you got lost in your mind and then you hear someone calling you. "Hey... HEY!!! Are you listening?!" You suddenly came back to reality and found that they're all staring you. You felt a bit embarrassed and asked them to say the stuff again.

"Seriously? Is she really the genius girl in her class?" The glasses guy said that loudly, " don't be so rude, Robin." Saffron whispered to him. "The thing is," Smart Finn started talking " we are looking for smart people to join us since Alex graduated last year. We need at least six people to hold a club. So we looked for the smartest person now in the school, and seems like it's you."

You're a bit shocked, no one ever tells you that you're smart, and you don't think you are, too. " I'm not smart. I'm just thinking stuff in a different way." You tried to explain, but Smart Finn ignored that, " so are you in or not?" He asked. " Don't think that you're not smart, you don't have to be modest about that." Saffron said. " Umm... I don't know..." you said that uncertainly, this has nothing to do with you.

"Come on, you won't regret it." Smart Finn said, " we'll change your boring life." " How do you know that...?" You're surprised that they know what you kept in your mind, " we see it from you expressions." A new voice appeared behind you. You turned around and found a guy with black hair, he's maybe an Asian. You thought. " I'm maybe an Asian." He said right that." How did you read my mind?" You asked surprisingly." Again, I don't read mind. I just saw it from your expression." He replied.

You don't know what to do now, maybe you shouldn't even come. But this is not that boring after all. You looked at Saffron, and she smiled back immediately. Then you looked at Robin, he looked away as soon as he noticed that you're looking at him. You felt a little funny for no reason.

Maybe I should join them. A random thought came to your mind." You can, there is nothing bad here with us." The mind reader spoke to you."Oh stop it mind reader." You said." Call me Ben, and I still have to say that, I don't read mind."He replied.

Saffron, the girl who got the higest mark in biology in the whole school. Everyone called her "Bio Pincess".

Robin, "The Naughty Math Prince", is a genius in math. He won almost all of the awards from math competitions all over the country.

Ben, known as the most mysterious guy in the school. He is perfect in every subject and understands ancient languages. Some people in the school call him " The guy of answers".

And finally, smart Finn. Actually you don't really know about him, you hardly hear people talking about him. But that doesn't matter. You will know each other better in the future. Yea, which means you've decided to...

" Hey, Smart Finn." You called him, " I'm in." A big smile appeared on his face, "Great! By the way, call me Finn."

The adventure of you and the "smart people" has begun.
