Okay most of the things I see here are a taboo to our culture but don't worry the story is western.
So points to note:
1. I do write slang but this is not a fanflick so the language will be strict.
2. Not really strict but the people in the novel are prude, so no vulgar... Well at least from most of the characters
3. This is tragic... Really tragic.
4. I know a few Swahili songs. So I'll add a few.

My English may sound a bit plain and old English it is just the era of the novel.
