A Drizzle

Rain.
It was always raining when something happened between us.
Some say it was because we met in the rain.
I say it was a warning.

----

I sighed.
Resultantly I swung my legs out of bed, and after rubbing my eyes, fumbled for the off button to my alarm clock.
What day is it today? September 1st? Why are my things packed...
"Shit." I glanced down at the clock, confirming my fears. 10:30.
Half an hour until I need to be at King's Cross Station.
It was as if I was in an action movie. My movements were a blur. I brushed my hair, hastily brushed my teeth, threw on the first outfit I could find, and flew down the stairs.
"Good morning sweetie! I thought I'd let you sleep in this morning." My mother glowed at me, and presented me with a plate of chocolate chip pancakes.
"MOM I HAVE NO TIME FOR THIS TODAYISTHEFIRSTDAYOFTERM!" I gushed, cheeks red from lack of breath. My mom looked at me, blankly for a few moments.
"Shit." She promptly dropped the plate of wonderful pancakes, popped a bagel in the toaster, and rushed me upstairs.
"You cannot wear that." She handed me a full outfit, and sat me down at the vanity.
"We need to do something about this hair as well." She raised an eyebrow at me, holding one of my curls from my mess of my hair.
10 short minutes later I was ready. Bags packed, goodbyes said, and standing at the platform 9 3/4.
The train, on time as always pulled into the station.
"All aboard the Hogwarts Express!" The conductor hollered.
Students flooded through the doors, excited and giddy for the year ahead. I waited for them, patiently, and got on myself.
No surprise, most of the cars were full. The only vacant or semi-vacant car was the one of Draco Malfoy and his hunks. I rapped on the door.
"What blood are you?" He snapped.
"Pure. You've asked me this every year. Might need to get that checked." I huffed, plopping on the seat across from him.
"How could I forget your pretty face Elena?" Draco replied, a sly grin climbing his face.
I laughed.
"Nice one." I slid over to the window, and looked at the scenery flashing past. Draco promptly forgot my existence and starting drawling on about his prestigious parents and how awful Harry Potter is.
This will be one long train ride, I thought.

----

The train pulled with a lurch at the station. It had been about 6 hours on the train, all of which were spent trying to do anything else but talk about Harry Potter.
"Harry everything. He's on t-shirts now! People actually buy them. I can't go anywhere without seeing his smug little face on everything." Draco glowered at me. "You've talked to him before, haven't you? You were his friend. Tell me, how awful was he?"
"I mean... he was full of himself, but kind nonetheless." I responded, avoiding eye contact with him.
Draco huffed, turning away from me.
"Well, this happy reunion must be cut short. I have a banquet to attend to, as do all of you." I pointed to Draco, Crab and Goyle by turn. "You should probably put on your robes now." I stood up, brushing the remainder of my chocolate frog off of my lap.
"I'll catch you on the flip side." I said with a wink, and left the car, nearly bumping into someone.
"OH MY GO- sorry." I said, helping up the red-head who fell on the floor.
"No, no, it's my fault." He responded, taking my hand and standing up. He brushed himself off, and stuck out his hand.
"Weasley."
"Excuse me?"
"My name. I'm a Weasley if you couldn't tell already." He gestured to his hair, and slightly tattered robes.
"You have a brother don't you? A twin." I snapped my fingers, "YOU'RE FRED! Or are you George?" I glanced up.
"I'm George. It is my duty to escort the lovely ladies I bump into." He laughed, putting out his arm. I took it, and we stepped off the train.
Good going Elena, started off the year with a love interest.
I smiled to myself.
Maybe this year wouldn't be as bad as I thought.
