I woke up to the sound of loud crashing and pounding. I lazily crawled out of bed to check the time. The digital clock beside my bed displayed the time 6:13 pm. Still tired and weak, I stumbled out of the room into the dark hallway. "Alex?" I called out. My voice was swallowed by the darkness. There was nothing only silence and darkness.
"Alex?" I called again."Are you there?" This time there was a silent thump against the floor boards. "Is that you? This isn't funny." I stretched my hand, out using the walls to try and navigate my way to the kitchen. My hands felt something plastic. After feeling the object for a while, I disvovered it was the light switch.
"Finally," I whispered. "No more stupid darkness." I flipped the switch several times. Nothing happened. No light turned on to illuminate the darkness.
For the first time since I woke up, I realized why it was dark. "A power outage? Are you kidding me?" I pounded my fist against the wall.I fumbled around in the darkness trying to find anything that could provide light in the darkness. I searched for what felt like minutes but I came up with nothing.
A few feet infront of me a floor board creaked. "Alex, common, no more jokes." There wasn't any reply. I walked blindly in the direction the of the sound. I heard another floorboard creak behind me. I jerked my head i the direction.
"Who's there?" I squinted, trying to make out any figures in the dark, but it was useless, it was too dark. I stood there waiting for any sign of movement or sound. When nothing happened for a while I relaxed.Maybe nothing was happening. For all I knew, Alex could be sleeping and all the mysterious sounds could have been house noises. I turned aroumd heading back in the direction of my room.
My whole body tensed and my nerves went on high alert. I felt a cold needle prick me in the side of my neck. The second I realized what was happenig it was too late.
The drug kicked in and I began to loose all feeling. My head swirled, my body went limp, and I crashed to the floor. The world swirled in a dreamy haze as my eyes slowly drooped. The last thing I saw was the shadow of a man leaning over me with a syringe in his hand.My eyes shut and I fell into unconsciousness.
