There are fouls and violations in basketball. 

Personal Fouls

Personal fouls include any type of physical contact that is illegal.

-Hitting 

-Pushing

-Slapping 

-Holding

-Illegal pick[when offensive player is moving. When an offensive player sticks out of limb and makes physical contact with a defender in an attempt to block the path of the defender.]

Personal foul penalties: If a player is shooting while a being fouled, then he/she  gets two free throws  if the shot doesn't go in, but only one free throw  if the shot does go in.

-Three free throws are awarded if the player is fouled while shooting  for a three-point goal, they miss their shot. If a player is fouled while shooting a three-point shot and makes it anyway, the player is awarded with one free throw. Therefore, he or she could score 4 points of the play.

-Inbounds, If fouled not shooting , the ball is given to the team the foul was called upon, the team get the ball to the nearest side or baseline, out of bounds, and they have 5 seconds to pass the ball onto the court.

- One and One, If the team committing the foul have 7 or more fouls in the game, the the player who is fouled gets to shoot 1 free throw, if the player makes  their first shot they are awarded with another frr throw.

-10 or more fouls, If the team committing a foul, the their foul players are awarded with 2 free throws.

CHARGING- An offensive foul that is committed when a player runs or pushes over a defensive player. The ball is given to the team the foul was committed upon.

BLOCKING- Blocking is illegal personal contact resulting from a defender that is not establishing a position of time to prevent the opponent's drive to the basket.
