" Kendall, you're going to mess up my hair!" I complain.
" Sorry, Maddie." Kendall quickly removes her hand from my crimped, light brown hair, and fiddles with her own. I pull out my dark red lipstick and wipe it carefully across my lips. Kendall does the same. In fact, she's doing everything exactly as I do - we're the Bros, and we're not going to disappoint the boys on our first day of high school.
" Finished." Kendall sneers, tossing her hair with a smirk.
We examine ourselves in the mirror. Both of us wear hot pink, see-through shirts and slim black leggings, which we picked out ourselves. We're used to applying our own make-up, too, so that's what we did. Powder, blush, concealer, lip stick, mascara, you name it. We store everything in our rhinestoned make-up cases.
" Come on," I say, pulling Kendall out the door to my room. " We can't be late to our fist day."
" We sure can't. We've got a bus to catch and boys to -" Kendall is interrupted as she trips and topples down the stairs, landing on her back. " Maddie! Tell Kenzie to stop reading on the stairs!"
I sigh, giving the evil eye to my twin sister Mackenzie, who sits on the second to last step reading a thick, boring novel. " Nerd." I whisper, then go to help Kendall off the ground.
Together, we march out of the door - after Kendall re-brushes her hair - and head for the bus stop. Kenzie follows behind, her head still buried in the book.
" Hey, guys." says a familiar voice as we approach the bus stop. Kalani.
" Hey, Kalani." I reply. " Excited?"
Kalani twirls her two french braids in her hands, grinning. " Of course I am! I'm going to get the boys."
" Not before us." Kendall warns.
Pretty soon, the bus lurches to a stop in front of us, blowing gas into our faces. The doors open, and Kendall and I, sassy as ever, step onto the bus. We pass by lots of familiar faces: Nia, Brooke, Paige, Jojo, and Chloe.
Nia used to be our best friend. But after she started putting her athletic nonsense before our friendship, we ditched her. Now she's best friends with weird, cheerleader Paige, who in my opinion is too ugly for the cheer team.
Brooke is Paige's twin sister, but we don't exactly want to be friends with her either. Singing and writing songs is practically her life, which gets annoying - especially when she sings her confusing songs on the bus.
Now Jojo, well, she's just plain crazy. Always running that loud mouth, always bouncing with excitement, always smiling. Pretty sure she's a teenage girl on the outside but a five-year-old child on the inside.
Chloe also used to be a kind companion of Kendall and I, back in fourth grade. But we left her because loser Chloe doesn't care about fashion, boys, or popularity. She dresses in all black, has frizzy light hair, and always looks depressed. See why we left her?
Some people say that Kendall and I are mean girls, but I don't think it's all true. I'm just a perfectionist, a popular girl, and a girl who wants to fall in love with the most popular boy. I'm not a brat, but I always get my way, and if I don't, things aren't going to look so pretty.
