"Who is coming?" I asked with concern.
"The Spyders," the king said with fear threading his tone.
"Who are they?" I questioned
"Oh no..." I heard Dove say.
"Dove..."
Dove set Peter on the ground.
"Peter, please go to your room, quickly," Dove said.
Peter nodded and was running towards the castle.
"Um, hello? Hi, I have been asked to help with the Spyder invasion and I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do," I said with worry.
"Come with me," Dove said.
She dragged me towards a huge stone shed with a rickety wooden door. She pulled open the door and I was greeted with hundreds of weapons and battle armory.
"Woah," I said in awe.
"Let's get you suited up. They'll be here soon."
She clapped her hands and armory started to float down from the shelves towards me, it would sit on a body part for a moment and then fit itself to me.
Once I had my armor on she took me further into the shed. She showed me a wall of weapons and gestured towards the wall.
"I choose?"
"Yes, which ever feels connected to you it will pull you toward it."
"Okay..."
I started to look at each weapon with care. There was an assortment of clubs, swords, knives, daggers, axes, but I couldn't feel a pull. I turned to tell Dove I couldn't feel anything and then I felt a pull almost tugging at my chest.
I walked past her and found a chest. I opened it and dust flooded my view. Once the dust settled I was met by a beautiful sword. It was dark bronze studded with jewels. It had a slender four foot blade with a leather handle that gripped to my hand perfectly. I picked up the sword and it hummed with energy in my hand. I turned towards Dove and she looked at the sword with wide eyes and then quickly smiled up at me.
"Let's go," she said.
"But I have absolutely no training!" I said worried for my life. She wanted me to run out into battle against the Spyders, whatever those things were.
"Trust the sword. It'll guide you," Dove said to me with serious eyes.
"I've heard that one before," I said.
"You have?"
"Yeah, in the damn movies! How am I possibly going to survive? I don't even know what a Spyder is!" I said angrily shouting.
"Please Clay, trust me, you'll be fine."
"What is a Spyder, Dove?" I pleaded.
She sighed, "It's a half man half spider. They have paralyzing venom on the tips of their legs and fangs that are dripping with it. They can jump as high as fifty feet in the air and have super human strength. They spin their webs fast and tight, so watch out for that. Before they attack to spin a web, they will part their leg stance. When they are readying to jump they will crouch. When they are going to pounce on you with venom or their fangs they will reach their front legs up and stand on their back, then pounce. Got it?"
"Dove...what if I don't make it?"
"You will."
"How do you know that?"
"Because I chose you to lead Avramor."
~Hey! Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I was on vacation with my family. Let me know in the comments what you think should happen with Dove and Clay's friendship! Should it move forwards or stay the same? Thank you!~
