I can hear church bells in the distance as I'm running. Ding Dong Ding Dong. Running with all my heart. If I stop running I'll be caught. I can't go back I just can't.

I feel the rocks under my feet as I run down the dirt road.

It's mid-day.

I haven't seen sunlight in 5 years.

Feeling the sunlight crash against my skin and my sweat drip down my back makes me think back to that first day 5 years ago.

I was 12 then.

I get snapped back into reality when I hit a rock.

Falling.

I crash down to the ground. My white Pierce The Veil t-shirt getting dingier than it already is. My knee getting scraped pretty bad considering my jeans had holes in the knees.

I hear footsteps.

They're approaching fast.

I leap up to start running and feel pain shoot up my leg.

When I tripped I twisted my ankle.

It hurt so bad.

I couldn't move.

I knew I was going to get caught and drug back.

Back to the one place I never wanted to see again.

The footsteps get closer and I can see the body those footsteps belong to. His face full of anger and hate.

He grabs my arm and starts to drag me.

I kick and scream.

I start to remember what I was running for. The dark, grim, room. With little to no lighting. It smells like bleach and wood.

He made the mistake of yanking me up towards to sky and to my feet.

Even though I had a injured ankle, I wasn't going back. I brought my knee up to his gut with so much force. I put all of my anger and fear into that hit.

I found my self running again. The pain in my ankle still there but I knew I had to ignore it. I thought I had gotten far enough away so I stop to take a breath.

I hold my ankle for a minute to stop the pain for a little. I glance down at my ankle to see the damage. Its bruised pretty bad. Purple, yellow, and black. I see indents in my wrist where the brown, coarse rope was tied. For years. At least the rope didn't hurt as bad as the chains.

***

Before I knew it I heard his footsteps again.

My heart raced.

I started running but fell again because of the pain. I had forgotten about my ankle. He approached me with an evil grin plastered on his face. He reached out and gripped my arm. This time he was quick enough, he grabbed me and threw me in the red pick-up truck.

Then, I woke up.

Sorry about the super short chapter. Its my first book I've written. I'm gonna make the next chapter longer. Hope you guys liked this one.

Sorry if this book is sort of cliche. I'll try to make it not to cliche.
