I am in love with my wife, well I  thought I was in love with my wife. I don't know when I became unsure I don't know if it  was in the first moment I saw him, or if part of me always knew.

I want to allow you to understand how I feel, and so I would like to start on the day my feelings changed , April 23, 2004.

April 23, 2004

I wake up today to see my tremendously beautiful wife, Hadley Lynn Dockland, I stare into her extravagant blue eyes as I take my hand and brush her dirty blonde hair out of her face.

"happy anniversary Mackenzie" she softly says with a beautiful smile on her beautiful face.

I smile and I rush out of bed to go make us breakfast, pancakes and strawberries a beautiful meal for my beautiful wife.

I catch a glimpse of my new neighbor out the window of my kitchen, he's a young aged man around 25, 8 years younger than my wife and I, He's around  six-foot with light brown hair, perfect teeth, not unusually attractive just a normal looking guy.

He is the youngest son of our 70-year-old neighbors and  he is moving back in for the summer, he is usually away at medical school but  for the last 5 months  Todd and Cindy's healths Have not been doing that well so he came home to help.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of  my beautiful wife's voice behind me.

" Baby don't go to work today, stay home and we can go to church and then to the old Italian place we tried last month"  Hadley said from behind me as she untucked my shirt from my boxer shorts.

She was still  such a flirt to me even after 15 years of being married. She was silly to think I would ever work on our anniversary.

" Of course I'm staying home, now go get dressed for church, I'm going to go get pants on then say hello to our new neighbor"  I laughed

" Todd and Cindy's son, I heard he's a faggot" Hadley quickly responded with a harsh tone

I had never heard her say something so out of line like that, it wasn't like her.

" well I'll kindly decline if he asks me on a date" I smirked trying to make the conversation more friendly.

" don't flatter yourself" she teased.

" just know if you invite him over for dinner and I let him know I think he's a disgrace, I wont apologize" she laughed in a pristine manor I wasn't used to.

"Hadley were about to leave for church, you don't have to be so harsh, he hasn't hurt anyone"  I replied as I walked to my room to get dressed.

I never heard her talk about someone with such disrespect and to be honest, I didn't like it. Why would such a beautiful person say something so terrible like that? why would my wife say something so terrible like that?

I put on my church clothes and I walk next-door to greet our neighbor. I've never been
particularly bothered by gay people, though it is against my religion, I don't see the harm in any kind of love and I know they cannot change it. I knocked on the door as politely as I could and he answered pretty quickly.

He was Well dressed, a common stereotype, but I would have never guessed a man studying to be a doctor would be gay, maybe a job like a hair dresser, or drag queen.

" Hey I am Mackenzie Dockland, my wife and I live next door, we know your parents and I would like to welcome you to the neighborhood  " I said as I reached out for a hand shake.

" Thank you so much, I am Shane, Shane Garvey but I think you knew that" he said as he excepted my hand shake.

He has a nice handshake, nice hands too, he also has a nice smile, and a  pleasant voice.

Uh well  I mean I guess you can call his handshake kind of nice and he had okay hands, an okay smile and a regular voice.

Suddenly I was feeling kind of strange so I quickly walked off his Porch with out saying goodbye and walked back to my car where my wife was already waiting.

"How did it go" she smirked

"It went fine, normal, I don't know why you're acting like this Hadley" I raised my voice

"acting like what, I'm just asking how it went with the faggot" she said getting louder

" don't call him that Hadley it's disrespectful, and it went fine he's nice, we should invite him over for dinner sometime"  I said trying to sound as calm as I could.

We didn't talk for the rest of the drive, I didn't want to fight on our anniversary.
