Banned. He was banned from driving for two years. Two whole years where he couldn't go where he wanted, he'd have to get his roommate, PJ to drive him around. "This SUCKS!" He yells, punching the wall. He instantly regrets it when his fist starts throbbing. He starts sobbing, and slides down to sit against the wall. He balls up his fists and screams at the top of his lungs, not caring if anyone hears. He'll never be able to live with what he has done.
He stands up, takes a shuddering breath, and walks towards the kitchen. When he is next to the knife cupboard, he stops, turns, and slowly opens it. The light glimmers off of the shiny stainless steel of the sharp objects, mesmerizing him, seeming to say, "We're here for you Dan! We can help you!" He needs the pain. He deserves the pain.
He slowly picks up a knife, turning it over in his hands so it catches the light. He rolls up his sleeve, looks at the blue spiderwebs under his skin. He puts a finger on it, feeling the slow pulsing. Dan. Dan. Dan. Dan. He closes his eyes, putting the knife on the inside of his arm. Then he stops. He drops the knife in shock, realizing what he has just done. He was about to cut himself! He chokes back another sob, and backs away from the drawer, from where he can still hear the knives calling. Instead, he goes over to another cabinet. The liquor cabinet.
He pulls out a shot glass and a bottle of vodka, then after a moment of consideration puts the shot glass back. He chugs straight from the bottle, not thinking about the fire going down his throat. He's thinking about the numbness that the fire brings. The numbness. The forget.
