Kathryn was sitting on her bed, waiting for her tenth birthday party to begin. Everyone was gathering in the living room as the clock struck the appropriate time. When she was walking to the living room, she almost tripped on her cat Oscar. When she did make it to the living room, she scanned it looking for a certain person. She kept thinking that 'he wouldn't lie to me' or 'he's just late, he'll be here soon.' But, he never did show up.
Her birthday party from when she was ten faded away from her as Shawn, her best friend, snapped his fingers in her face. "Off in dream land again, Kat?" She made a face, mockingly hurt. "I'm sorry, what's wrong?" Shawn asks. "You ruined my tenth birthday part." She states. Shawn and Kathryn have been friends ever since they could remember, but at Kathryn's party she started noticing her overly developed feelings for him. Shawn's oblivious to these feelings though, just like the rest of the world. Shawn's on the football team. They've talked about dating but, they don't want to ruin the relationship. It means a lot to the both of them.
"What?" Kathryn snaps at Shawn. He turns and pouts cutely. She looks at him analyzing him. . He has golden brown hair that's all gelled up in the front. He has light crystal blue eyes, and he's slimly built. Kathryn has short black hair with blonde streaks; she also has brown eyes with specks of green. She's short and curvy. Clearing her throat she says, "I'm sorry for snapping at you." The bells rings, Kathryn starts walking away saying goodbye to Shawn. He calls after her saying, "you're not going to give me a goodbye hug, Kitty Kat?" She run and wrap her arms around his neck, tightly and whisper 'goodbye' in his ear and began to walk away. As Kathryn is walking down the hallway, she sees a girl with red hair and she's short too. Next to her is a poster she hasn't seen before, it reads "PROMNIGHT! TUESDAY@FIVEO'CLOCK." Maybe she should ask Shawn? Kathryn walks into class, that's couple doors down; music. When, the bell rings, she catches Shawn outside her classroom door. "Kitty, I've got to ask you a question..." Shawn's says. He sounds worried, like something is making him nervous. It's cute. She nods, "what's wrong?" She asks. "Nothing, who are you going to prom with?" Shawn makes a nervous cough and clears his throat. "I'd love to go with you." He adds. Kathryn's shocked staring at him she says, "Of course, I'd love to go with you." She smiles looking down and blushing. He extends his hand for her to take it. Kathryn intertwines their fingers and began walking to the car as the bell rings, talking about random things. He opens the office doors for her, she smiles and blushes. Kathryn walk to his car and open the passenger side door and wait for him to start the car, when he does Kathryn turn the music up. Blank Space comes on, and she sings along softly.
