My hands become clammy as I take a step into the dark alleyway, I clench my keys in my fist as if it were a spear, praying that I make it out of this alleyway alive.

I glance at my phone, 1:30am. Shit.

I have just spent the past 5 hours at a nightclub with my mates, now I'm suddenly realising why I don't tend to go out at night.

Because the only way to get to my apartment was through a long dark alleyway and living in a not so safe town in London isn't the best place to be in the middle of the night, and a being a small eighteen year old girl wasn't helping.

I slowly make my way through the alleyway when I hear some rustling behind me.

I swiftly turn, heart pounding to see an empty crisp packet swirling around the floor by the wind.

I breathe a sigh of relief and turn back to where I was heading for.

It wasn't long until I heard somethig else behind me, this time I only turn my head to where the sound was coming from still walking to the end of the alleyway.

Before I could turn my head around back to where I was heading for I was knocked to the ground.

For a second I lay there terrified until I heard a familiar british voice.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry!" He cried helping me back up, a glint of worry in his eyes.

I try to smile as I try to work out who he reminds me of.

"Like I gotta go but If you need help to wherever you need to go-" he runs his hand through his hair.

"No, I'm fine thanks".

He nods and then walks past me.

It took me walking to my apartment and to get changed for bed until I realised who he was.

He was Dan Howell.

"But Nerissa, are you absolutely sure it was Dan Howell? Like the Dan Howell?" Lucy asks, handing me a coffee as she pull out her phone scrolling through her instagram looking for pictures of him.

We were sitting in Coco's a local coffee shop the next day, getting ourselves some coffee to help Lucy get over her hangover.

Me and Lucy had been friends since playschool, one day she picked up the teachers scissors and cut off one of my plaits. We've been best friends ever since.

"Two coffees please" I heard a strong british accent say at the counter.

I look up to see Dan, it doesn't take long for Lucy to notice him too. He smiled and in exchange I shyly looked out of the window, trying to pretend not to have noticed him.

He was probably smiling at someone else anyway.

Once the person at the counter had served him he started to make his way over to us.

"Oh my god he's coming over" Lucy Hisses

"Hey" he says sitting himself down on our table.

"Um hi" I manage to blurt out.

"Are you okay? I'm sorry about last night"

"It's okay"

"You know you shouldn't be going down there on your own late at night"

"I guess"

"No seriously, and maybe I could make it up to you?"

"You don't have to-"

"I want to, there's this really cool 1950's diner that I've been dying to go to, and I need company. None wants to be that kid who sits i the corner of the room alone eating a cold hamburger" he laughs

Lucy laughs, a little to enthusiastically.

"So how does 6:30 tomorrow? Oh and one more thing" he grabs my cup and pulls a marker pen out of his pocket and writes down a mobile number.

He then gets up and leaves the coffee shop, leaving everyone in the shop who were close enough to hear our conversation with their mouths open wide and Lucy bouncing up and down excitedly like a toddler on sugar and looking like she was avout to wet herself.
