"Julie, do you want to play a game with me? Do a puzzle maybe?" My little sister Amelia asks as she comes downstairs to my room.
"Only if you, Nathan, and Fizz don't wig out on me." I reply. She shrugs and nods and runs to get a game from upstairs.
"Puzzle or board game?" She calls.
"Puzzle I guess. You know, in case something happens and we need to stop for a while." I call back.
She comes back down with a 150 piece puzzle of dragons and we set about putting it together.
"So, how's Riley?" Amelia asks.
"He's good. He asked me to be his date to graduation if that makes any sense." I ponder. I mean, does grad need dates?
"Sweet." She replies, putting in another piece of the puzzle. "Oh, could we go dress shopping? Sure, grade 8 graduation isn't as important as grade 12 but I just thought with university coming up and such..."
"I'd love to. But I thought Nathan was refusing to wear a dress." I raise my eyebrows at her.
"Nathan can suck it. I'm wearing a dress to grad wether he likes it or not." She crosses her arms over her chest. "Multiple Personality Disorder is not going to stop me from wearing a dress to graduation god dammit!" Her seriousness makes me laugh.
I realize that we've finished the puzzle in no time at all. Wow.
"Oh, I want to show you a text Riley sent me earlier!" I smile, grabbing my phone from my pocket.
"Hey babe... Love... Forever.... Ew Ew Ew Ew Ew!!" Amelia yells, her usually higher pitched voice dropping almost an octave. "Why would you show me that?! That's so sappy!! And from RILEY?! I'm ashamed! Ew!!" She runs out of the room.
"Nathan don't be a brat and get back down here!" I yell after her. When nothing happens, I roll my eyes and cross my arms over my chest. "Nathan get your butt down here or I'm eating the Nutella without you!"
"You. Wouldn't. Dare." She growls, pointing an accusing finger at me as she walked back into the room.
"Says who?" I question, sticking my tongue out at her.
"But, but... Nutella's my favourite..." Amelia whimpers, her voice sliding back to a high pitch.
"I'm sorry Fizz, but Nathan wasn't listening so I told him he couldn't have Nutella. You know why?" I ask, speaking quietly to my sister's little kid personality. She shakes her head no.
"Because you and I will eat it first." I smile. "Now go get the spoons and I'll get the jar from the cupboard and whatever you do: don't let Nathan have any ok?"
"Ok!" She smiles back and runs upstairs.
I shake my head and sigh happily to myself.
There's more than one side to a person and my sister has 3.
