The next morning I was the last one to wake up of course. I always over slept no matter how hard I tried to wake up when everyone else did. Hermione always tried to get me up too. I honestly wasn't changing my ways.
I sighed as I started pulling on my robes getting ready for another day, praying that today wasn't going to be as bad as I think it will.
I slowly made my way down to the Great Hall, still having a few minutes left of breakfast. I entered the room seeing that a lot of the people had already left to make their way to their first classes. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were still sitting down at the table, talking quietly. It looked secretive to me. When Harry saw me he nodded my way which caused Ron and Hermione to look over my way. Hermione smiled at me as did Ron. I looked out of the corner of my eye to my left and saw some of the people that were still sitting at the other table looking over at me, watching.
"She's the one who smelled horrible in potions. Poor Draco had to sit right next to her..." Some girl I never seen before whispered to the other girl I had also never seen before. I groaned, quickly making my way to my friends. When I sat down I started to sniff myself to make sure I smelled okay before I made my way to my classes.
"You smell fine." Harry assured me. I looked up at him, and just stared. How could he be so sure? He is so far away from me.
"You don't smell like you had yesterday. Don't worry about it." Hermione put in. I rolled my eyes as I started to quickly pile food up on my plate. I only had a few more minutes to scarf all this food down.
"Slow down, don't want you choking." Ron whispered. I looked over at him and couldn't help but laugh with the food I had in my mouth.
"Really? You're gonna say that to me Ronald?" I asked, he laughed along with me, realizing what he had actually said. Hermione smiled over at Ron and Harry.
"At least it's Friday and then after today I can avoid everyone for a whole 2 days." I said sighing pleasantly. "The only bad thing is though... Is most of my classes are with Draco. I have Potions and Care of Magical creatures."
"Elena, t-that's two classes." Ron said, looking at me as if I had two heads. I shrugged as I continued to eat my food.
"Doesn't matter, where ever he is the classes seem to go longer. Might as well be 4 classes with him." I replied matter of factly.
"I'll see you guys in a bit, I'm going to go get to class. I don't want to be late." Hermione said getting up from her seat. Ron squinted his eyes at her as he watched her get up.
"We still have about ten minutes." He said, looking at Harry who just shrugged.
"Exactly, I don't want to be late. It can be quite a walk sometimes." She said putting her head up and walking away.
"I wish I had as much energy to go to class like she did." I said. Ron and Harry both nodded. They were in my first class, which didn't make it very fun since they always worked together if we needed a partner and I was always stuck with Neville. I always gave them hell about it too...
Transfiguration. Wasn't that bad of a class, it wasn't easy but it was alright just because I didn't have to see that blonde albino while I tried to work. Professor McGonagall started on with her notes, which I really wasn't paying much attention to. I was passing this class that's all that mattered. I glanced over at Harry and Ron who were, like usual, goofing off. I looked to my left to see Neville trying to write down every word McGonagall said. I sighed, sitting here bored as her voice just continued to drag on, soon not even realizing that the class was nearly over. The only thing I could really think about though was my potions class with the Slytherins. That wasn't going to blow over all that well.
I shouldn't care, it shouldn't bother me like it did. It was funny. Sure it was funny, right? That's what I kept trying to convince myself. Just laugh along with them, it'll irritate them and probably piss them off. For some reason though I couldn't just do that. I couldn't just brush it off my shoulder. I was so sick of shit like this happening to me.
When Professor McGonagall dismissed us I got up a little too quickly. My skirt caught on a piece of the desk that was sticking out just enough. It got my skirt and ripped a good hole in it. I heard the tear, my head snapped down to where it was caught. I groaned as I put my books right back down on the desk so I could see the damage that was done. I grabbed my skirt, sliding it off the piece of wood and soon letting it go to see if you could see my legs... And you could. Great.
"This is just what I needed." I whispered to myself. Neville seemed to be the only one who noticed I did it and asked if I needed anything. What really did I need? Do you have a spare skirt with you? I shook my head, I couldn't say those things to him, he was too sweet and he was only trying to help. There was no time for me to go up to my dorm to get a new outfit so I just would have to deal with this huge gigantic hole in my outfit. I ran a hand through my hair quickly as I picked up my books and made my way to my next class.
I don't think it's that bad. I mean when I walk you can't even really tell there was a hole the size of the Grand Canyon on my skirt.
"What's wrong with you?" Hermione asked walking beside me.
"Nothing, just not having a good day." I replied grumpily. She gave me an apologetic smile.
"When do you have good days anyway, Elena?" She joked, which I lightly chuckled just to break the tension that was starting to form.
"I'm really half tempted to just go back to the Common Room and skip the rest of the day. " I sighed, slowly making my way to my Divination class that Hermione didn't have. The boys had it but they were probably already there.
"No you can't, you're really failing this class and you promised me you would TRY to get a better mark." She lectured. I rolled my eyes.
"But I gave up on the trying." I stated, shrugging. Hermione gave me a look.
"You told me this yesterday, that you were going to try. You can't just say you're going to try and then not keep your word."
"Ahh, but that is where you're mistaking my dear." She chuckled and hit my shoulder.
"You're going to try."
"Why can't I just drop out of this class like you did... and take another class?" I groaned, lifting my head.
"Don't get me wrong, that class is a bloody joke, but knowing you no other class is going to be as easy as Divination." She replied softly. As if that didn't make me sound dumb and lazy.
"Hey!" I snapped, she raised her eyebrows at me, giving me the 'Are you serious' look.
"Okay, okay maybe you're right but I can hardly stand the woman."
"Neither can I. Anyway, I'll see you at lunch time. Remember, try!" She shouted over her should as she started walking an opposite direction.
I stood outside the trap door before making my way up. Maybe I can make a run for it. Then Hermione's voice rang through my head. 'Try.'
It was lunch time and I was sitting with Harry and Ron waiting for Hermione to make her way to the Great Hall. I did pay attention in Divinations for a good half of the class then I just couldn't keep my mind focused on her dreary voice.
