shadow of my past

chapter two: Dark entity within

Sleep was hard with the daunting thoughts of my past played on replay in my head. How was anything that happened to me possible, with no explanation, and now I'm laying in a strangers bed who practise the dark arts.

My thoughts were forcefully becoming hard to control, I was hoping that I could wake up and it would all be just a bad dream. I knew if I didn't get sleep I would be paranoid the next morning, but how could anyone be okay with sleeping in a room or even a house full of people you don't know and never met before.

I closed my eyes for what seemed like only a moment and a large BANG echoed through the house and alleyway. The screams of a young woman grew louder and louder. Before I know it Valentina is up and runs to my door and checks on me.

"What's happening outside? Where's Liam?" I quickly ask with no hesitation.

"We'll explain everything in a brief moment, but you need to come to the lounge room so we can stick together in a brighter place" she replies.

I follow her lead into the lounge room and sit down while she checks outside.

"I know this might be hard to grasp, but the past week or two a lot has been happening down this alleyway, every night something paranormal comes and chases a helpless person with only good intentions." 

I listen closely to Valentina's explanation of what is happening.

"Tonight banshees attacked a woman, the screams of just one banshee could make a person go insane, but she was attacked by three. When Liam heard her screaming her rushed down stairs to help and obviously"

Suddenly she was interrupted by Liam's voice and one last time, the woman's. 

My mind went blank, I rushed downstairs to see what was happening. Valentina tried to stop me, but my mind wouldn't allow her to. I wanted to quickly save him, after all they did provide a room for me.

When I got to Liam his ears were bleeding, his stomach wounded with cuts and bruises, he couldn't stand up, and if he stayed in the street any longer who knows what could happen. No words came out of his mouth. All I could see is his dark hair and his eyes sparkle in the night lights. I knew i couldn't leave him out. 

I put my hands on his wounded body and closed my eyes, I knew that I should still have my healing ability in me. But nothing happened. I enchanted the words over and over again but nothing happened. I looked up at the sky "I'm sorry god for ever doubting you, but please don't let me lose him" I cried out to the skye. I enchanted the words one last time, using all my ability, and just as i was about to head back in a strong arm reaches for me.

"Thank you" Liam smiles, still weak.

Valentina was full of surprise and quickly rushed to help him up, heading back inside as I followed.

When we got back inside and up the stairs Liam was sat down on the couch while Valentina went to lock all the door downstairs.

"You saved my life" Liam says surprised

"You saved mine" I replied with a wide smile

"So you really are a healer?"

"I was raised a healer and taught to use my powers for good"

"So why on earth would you turn to the dark arts?"

"It's the only way to find out what happened to my family"

Valentina walks in with a worry on her face while she looks at her brothers wounded body slowly repairing.

"I'm going to head off to bed, will you both look out for one another for a bit?" 

Liam smiles and nods his head while Valentina heads into her bedroom just around the corner.

"I'm going to head off too, it's been a long night" I laughed and gave Liam a wide smile while heading off to bed.

I fell asleep effortlessly, and it felt just right.

I woke up to the sound of eggs crackling, and the smell of freshly made pancakes. I walked out, happier than ever, I realised this is what i want  my future to be like.

I walked out with Valentina sitting at the table and Liam singing Disney songs making breakfast. I sat down right across from Valentina and laughed as Liam got Hannah Montana's song lyrics wrong.

"well i tried" he said laughing and placing the batch of eggs onto the table with bacon beside it.

Valentina and Liam both started digging in, but I was feeling awkward and nervous.

"dig in baby" Valentina said holding the plate of bacon in front of me.

I grabbed some bacon and an egg along with two pancakes and started eating while Liam told us embarrassing stories about his past and we all laughed along.

"I was thinking about your choice of turning onto the dark arts" Liam said sounding serious. "What if I trained you?"

"you would do that?" I shockingly replied

"Of course, but, we'll have to do it at the witching hour. You might need to stay with us for awhile longer"

"of course! deal!" I cried out happily. I'll finally get revenge.
