~Everyone has to choose a path someday~

The crimson colored liquid dripped down the pale, already damaged wrist of Scarlett Naceliene. Each drop of blood had it's great path. Unfortunately, there was no good path for Scarlett. There was only one path, the path to insanity. A lot of people have taken that path by choice, but others were so unfortunate that they were forced to take that one particular path.

Why was Scarlett doing this to herself? There are many reasons to this sin that she was doing. Starting off with the abusive, ungrateful person called Kadence Naceliene, also known as 'mom'. Her so called mom is an alcoholic which would lead to the beatings towards Scarlett.

From age five, the beating continued on. Over the years of the beatings, Scarlett has gotten used to all the torture her mom provides for her. From whips to even cutting her with a knife. Just the normal 'alcoholic mom hates daughter' cliche.

The only reason she continues this torture is because of her dad and her twin brother, Alex. If her dad does something about it and calls a divorce, that would lead to the depths of poverty.

As for her twin, they are just like any other twins. Except, they have a greater bond that keeps them together. They did everything together. Even died their hair the same color. It was one of those relationships where if one of them dies, the other one would gladly die with them.

A knock on the door pulled Scarlett out of her trance. Before she can do anything, the door was opened by a boy with the same ruby red hair as Scarlett.

The boy was no other than her brother, Alex; However something was wrong with his appearance. One his cheek, a scar, that seemed to be badly covered by make up.

Alex's smile quickly disappeared once he saw what Scarlett was doing to herself. That didn't bother Scarlett though. It was the scar on Alex's cheek that bothered her.

"What happened?" Scarlett asked, pointing at his badly covered scar.

"Nothing. Just fell and scraped my cheek," he lied with an awkward laugh.

"You're bad at lying," Scarlett told Alex.

"I know," Alex admitted.

"So tell me the truth," Scarlett demanded.

"You'll be depressed if I told you and it will ruin the whole family," Alex said sadly

"I'm already depressed so just tell me!"

Alex jumped back slightly, surprised at the raise in voice coming from his twin. He closed the door slowly, making sure the door didn't make a creak. Alex then turned to Scarlett who still had a raged expression on her face.

"So are you gonna tell me?"

Alex had tears forming in the corners of his eyes. He sucked them back in the since he didn't want to look like a wimp in front his sister. He looked at her, trying to show no emotion as possible.

"Mom."

That was the only word that came out of Alex's mouth and also the only word that could make Scarlett glare. She gritted her teeth and tried not to cry.

"I'm sorry," Scarlett said as a tear went down her pale cheek.

"For what?"

Alex went towards Scarlett and wrapped his arms around her frail body. She put her hands and Alex's chest, gently squeezing the soft fabric of his shirt, not caring that the fresh cuts were rubbing against the cotton from Alex's shirt.

"I wasn't there to help you," Scarlett choked out.

"It's okay," Alex reassured her.

Alex gently patted her head. He kissed the top of her head and pulled her away from the embrace they were currently in.
