Pepe awoke to the screams of several people in his village. The smell of smoke filled his nostrils. He jumped out of his bed and ran outside only to see his village burning to the ground. Raiders had come that night and sacked his village once again. By the time the raiders were gone the village was in ashes. And the townspeople began rebuilding the very small shacks they already had. Pepe's grandfather wobbled along side Pepe and said, "come", and Pepe followed him back to their small shack. It had been him and his grandfather ever since his parents ran away. He never really knew them. His grandpa starter hacking and coughing up blood again. Pepe ran quickly outside to the well got a bucket of water and started tending to his grandfather. Pepe had to start getting used to tending to his grandfather because he was very sick and was dying. Then it happened, one night, while Pepe was asleep, his grandfather passed away. He was buried next morning and Pepe couldn't take it anymore. The village was getting sacked weekly, and he had lost everybody he loved. Pepe wanted to find a better life with more opportunities. He packed a small sack with stale bread and a cross. Pepe always thought If he'd pray to God and ask him to guide him God would answer him. Turning his back to his old village Pepe began walking towards the woods. He looked back once to the village only to see the poor townsfolk rebuilding the shacks and huts all sick and tired. He took a deep breath, turned away, and continued walking. He didn't know what lay ahead but whatever it was Pepe would be ready for it.
