“Hunny, I’m sorry but Daddy’s not coming home he went to go see God.”

At the time I thought God was one of my Daddy’s friends but when we buried him my whole world came crashing down on me. You see ever since I was a day old my Dad was wrapped around my finger. I was a Daddy’s girl and was proud of that. He was my best friend my shoulder to cry on, he was my rock and as I got older he was the one thing I needed the most.

My Dad was the fire chief in our little small town local fire house for four years. Until that day he went into that burring building and never came out. I was five when I lost my Dad and I will for ever have that day etched into my brain until the day I die.

I remember that moment just like it was yesterday, two fire fighters came and rang out door bell. Mom answered the door. The talked for a few minutes then my Mom turned and looked at me with tears in her eyes. Then she said “Hunny, I’m sorry but Daddy’s not coming home he went to go see God.” Then she grabbed me in a hug and she cried and cried.

Well after 16 years my life is back on track I graduated high school and college both on the honour role. Went to college of baking and Pastry Arts and bought my own bakery with the money my Dad saved for me. I decided to name it after my Dad’s idea ‘The Perfect Dish!’ he always wanted to find the perfect dish, I always thought of it as a tribute to my father’s memory.

My name is Kylie Walters. I stand at 5’8” with blond hair that goes to the middle of my back and I have blue/grey/green eyes that change colour with my mood or the time of the day. Back to the present though it was a Tuesday and I was just closing the shop up for the day sweeping the floor’s, clearing and cleaning the tables, counter’s, checking the bathroom supplies the usual.

After closing up I went back to my office grabbed my bag, laptop, and keys and headed to the door leading up a flight of stairs to my home I unlocked the door and hanged my stuff up.

“Mister!” I yelled.

I heard the sound of his paws and his big loud meow. In walked my pure black cat he looked at me with his yellow eyes. I picked him up hugged and rubbed his ears. I walked into the kitchen grabbed him his food and gave it to him I open up the fridge and decided I didn’t want to cook tonight.

I grabbed the milk, cereal, bowl and a spoon. I poured my supper and put everything away. I walked to the living room turned on the T.V and that is where I sat for an hour with Mister in my arms.

When 7:50 rolled around I got up and fixed my self a milk shake and cut my self a piece of cake. I walked back into the living room and the channel changed to N.C.I.S. Mister was on the couch curled up in a ball fast asleep. I sat down and watched N.C.I.S. until nine.

An hour and a half later I was done brushing my teeth had my pj’s on the door was locked the alarm on and I was heading to bed.

I heard Mister’s meow and in no time he was on my bed curled up in a ball. I shook my head and giggled. Pulling back the covers I hopped in bed and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!

I sat up check the time that read 4:30 am and shut the alarm off getting out of bed. Stretching I headed to the bathroom and hopped in a shower. After my shower put on some clothes and braided my hair out of the way.

Walking to the kitchen I checked the time it read 5:00 am I opened the fridge grabbed the orange juice and poured myself a cup.

Meow!

Looking down I saw Mister looking up at me with big eyes asking for his food. I poured his food and gived it to him. I put away the orange juice and started working on cakes, cookies, squares and other delicious treats I had to bake for today.
