"Getting used to it yet love?" Emily's soft voice sympathised.

"It's barely been a day Em, I don't think I really have a choice but to try and get used to it." I picked at the hem of the skirt I was wearing.

I heard her sigh through the other side of the phone, "Just try and get along with him and it'll seem easier and the days will go by like nothing. Keep me updated, I'll see you tomorrow."

"Goodbye." I placed my phone on the nightstand and walked downstairs where Harry strolled in with a box in his hands, he shut the door with his foot and sent me a smile, Louis and Liam had popped by earlier to help but then they had to go home to finish whatever it was they were doing.

"That was the last of your clothes and the last of all the boxes." He dropped it on top of another box.

I placed my hand on his arm, "Thank you, you're a sweetheart."

"No problem at all." He sent me a large smile once more. "Heard from Niall yet?"

"Uh no, haven't seen him all morning actually." I furrowed my eyebrows.

"He'll come around don't worry."

"I hope so, I wish it was that easy." I bit my lip.

-

"Need any help?" I spun around to see Niall leaning on the doorframe, eyebrows raised. He had a facial expression that I couldn't decipher but I decided to let it slide.

"If it's no bother." I smiled sheepishly. He reached up to place a photo frame of me and my sister on the shelf.

"Is that your sister?"

"Uh yeah, she's gone to America for university and the photo brings back memories."

"It's sweet."

"Thank you." I met my gaze with his.

For the rest of the evening Niall continued to help me arrange my room, no words were exchanged apart from the occasional 'does this go here?' or 'would you like any help with that?' from Niall. I figured his actions this morning were simply from how quick things were happening and the fact that he probably hadn't had a woman come live with him before, let alone one he didn't know. I decided to 'cut him some slack ' as Harry had advised. If I were in the same position I'd be feeling the same.

I grabbed a handful of clothes and made my way into the walk-in closet when Niall decided to walk out and bump right into me, successfully knocking the clothes out of my hands. He sighed and leaned down to grab them off of the floor. I bit my lip subconsciously and watched him take them in for me - my intention was never to aggravate him.

"I never realised moving in was such hard work, do you want to order some food?" He sat on the edge of my bed. I noticed that there still was a slight edge to the tone of his voice but paid it no attention.

"Um yeah, that might be nice. I'm sorry I couldn't make a proper meal."

"Who said you had to cook? It's fine."
I looked down and suddenly found my chucks very interesting.

We ordered, and Niall left to go downstairs. I paced around the room and bit my nail. Do I go downstairs? Do I attempt a conversation with him? Do I ignore what happened and carry on?

"Gabriella!" I broke out of my trance and walked downstairs. "Food's here." Niall muttered whilst placing the food on plates. I coughed awkwardly and helped him prepare, we grabbed the plates and headed to the dining room where he turned the TV on.

*Niall's P.O.V*

Shy. That's what she was. I don't know how long her timidity was going to last but I knew that at this rate she may never feel comfortable around me. I know what you're thinking - 'Why is he acting like such an arse towards her?' Easy. I didn't know her. I was a fan of her music and what she does but coming to live with me? To see my habits? See me at my worst? I wasn't ready for that commitment. Just like every human being I had my sad days and mood swings. I couldn't let her see me in that state not when we're not so close. I'll act civil but that's the maximum of my attachment that I can allow.
