Hey Matt!" I greet Matt, walking with him.

"Hi Just Scarlett." He greets back.

"Stop calling me that!" I lightly push him. He laughs.

"Okay, Scarlett rose." He replies and i roll my eyes once again.

"Fine, Hi Matthew lee." I respond and he laughs again.

"I promise not to ditch you today." I say and hold up my pinkie.

"You don't have to sit with me at lunch.." He says and I shake my head.

"I want to.."

"Is it becuase you feel bad for me?"

"No.. Your fun and the nicest person I've met so far."

"Or you just want to get away from your friends?" He raises his eyebrow.

"Um no, why would you think that?"

"Your always uncomfortable around them as if you don't belong." I stared at him.

"Um... well we're here so you don't have to pretend like you like me." He said and walked away to his locker.

"Hey scar, is that Matt?" My best friend, Cassidy asked.

"Um.. Yeah." I respond walking away to my locker.

I walk to class and sit down with my friends. I looked at Matt the whole time. Am I that transparent?

Matts POV

I sat down with my lunch at my depressing lonely table.

"Hello." Someone sat next to me dropping their tray on the table.

"Hi Scarlett rose" I respond and she smiles. Her smile was probably the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

"What?" She catches me looking at her.

"Why are you sitting with me?" I ask. I didn't want friends.. It made me miss carter way to much.

She looked at me irritated.

"Matt, why is it so hard for you to accept someone trying to be your friend?" She said rolling her eyes taking a bite out of her mashed potatoes that our school gave us.

"Because I don't deserve a friend!" I shoot back and she looks at me in confusion and shock.

"Why?"

"Becuase my best friend commuted suicide and I, me his best friend should have been their for him and I wasn't. I'm a horrible friend so stop trying to be mine." I get up and walk away.
