Chapter 3: Love Rival

Natsu's POV:

We made it through history without any issues, and Lucy awed everyone with her knowledge of Fiore, which fortunately led to a discussion that lasted the majority of the class time. Normally I would have napped, but the way she explained everything she knew about the past monarch bloodlines, wars, treaties...I was fascinated and couldn't look away from her gorgeous face...Gorgeous?! Did I just say that out loud?? I looked around me, no one seemed to notice but then again we were in the middle of a dissection in Anatomy. Heh heh oops..
"Natsu! Try not to spill cat guts all over me, will ya?!" Lucy whined.
"Sorry Luce, I spaced out.." I apologized.
"Natsu! You're cleaning that mess up after the lab is over!" I heard a menacing voice behind me say menacingly.
"Aye ma'am!!" I saluted in fear.
I turned to see Erza with a stern look in her eye. I shuddered thinking of how she's disciplined Gray and I so that we get along. Lucy, Mira, Erza, and I started removing organs and placing them in trays labeled according to their bodily function system. We also had to label the skeleton in sketches on paper later. I lifted the cat's right arm. "Oi, Luce. Do you find this lab humerus? It's really taking my breath away." I say pointing to his lungs in the table next to us.
Lucy and Mira laughed, saying in unison, "Natsu how cheesy can you be?"
"Aw c'mon! It was a real rib tickler! Haha," I joke back.
The girls laughed, shaking their heads, while Erza simply said we should continue our work to finish before we ran out of time. In a matter of minutes we had the cat separated into the different categories and worked on sketches of the skeleton for the last twenty minutes of class. Porlyusica-sensei asked us to clean up our dissection tables and deposit the organs and carcass into the designated containers before washing our hands and gathering our things for the next class. To avoid any scolding from Erza, I made sure our lab area was spotless. The bell rang shortly after I was finished and I walked with Lucy to our guitar class. We entered class to see the seats and music stands set up concert-style, and took our seats near Gajeel, who was playing a little riff over and over on his new electric guitar. Throughout class, Green-sensei taught the beginners the pieces of the guitar, the names of the strings, and the theory behind the musical staff, as well as teaching us to read a few notes in treble clef. I normally don't have the patience for this, but I really want to learn bass, and how to translate bass clef.
After class, Lucy, Gajeel, and I made our way to the cafeteria to meet the rest of the group. Of course, Levy sat next to Lucy so they could talk about their day and books. Gray had lost his shirt after leaving class and Erza called him out on it. I immediately burst out laughing, "Aww c'mon Ice Princess! There's girls here that don't need to see that!" I joke, pointing at him.
"I look better than most guys here, including you flame-brain!" He retorts.
"What'd you say, Elsa--?!" I started before being cut off by Erza.
"Gray, Natsu, cut it out before I put you two in the "Get Along" shirt! And Gray, put your pants back on..Some girls here would like to stay innocent." Erza gestured towards his pants that were now tossed aside as he was going to come fight me in his underwear.
"Aww geez not the Shirt of Shame!" Gray and I cry in unison.
"Gray, you may be pretty defined, but please put clothes on soon, people are staring.." Lucy piped in, trying to control her laughter.
"Lucy is Juvia's new love rival, staring at Gray-sama like that!" Juvia exclaims from across the table.
"W-what?? N-n-no it's not like that!" Lucy stuttered, blushing a light crimson on her cheeks.
"Juvia will have Gray-sama, just watch!" Juvia continued while giving Gray heart eyes.
The whole group burst into laughter at Lucy's reaction, while Levy explained that Juvia is very jealous of any girl near Gray. Lucy just chuckled nervously, "R-right.."
Gray finally put his clothes back on, Juvia settled down a bit, and we all enjoyed the last 20 minutes of lunch together. We talked about our day's struggles and the homework we got so far, etc. As I was finishing my second lunch I brought, Lucy started to get up to throw her trash away. "Luce, no worries. I'll take, I'm getting up right now." I say reaching for her tray.
"Thanks, Natsu." She said, looking kind of confused.
I answer back with a smile and I see a slight blush in her cheeks. "Are you feeling okay, Luce? Your face is a little red," I ask, feeling her forehead.
"I'm okay, let's just get to English class, yeah?" She said, blushing even more while backing away to grab her backpack as the bell rang.
What a strange feeling.. I thought to myself following behind her, before I shook my head and caught up to her. The rest of the group followed suit as we headed for Makarov-sensei's classroom. "How's it going Gramps?" I joke as we walk into class and find out seats. Makarov-sensei just shook his head and started writing something on the board.

*Time skip to end of class*

"Well I really made a fool of myself and slaughtered the language today!" I said laughing as we packed up our notebooks.
"It wasn't that bad.. Okay yeah, it kinda was!" Lucy joked while laughing at me, "We'll add that to our tutoring subject list." She continued.
"Haha yeah, you did really well today Luce! Hope you enjoyed your first day here! I gotta go change for football, but I'll meet you in the quad after okay?" I explain.
"Sure thing, I'm really looking forward to the tour!" Lucy said smiling back at me.
She parted ways with Levy while the guys and I headed for the gym to change. It wasn't until after she left that I realized how fast my heart was beating. This feeling.. I shook my head. "Game time guys! Race ya there! Last one there is buying lunch tomorrow!" I yell before taking off down the hallway.
"NATSU!!! I ain't losing to you!" The guys yell in unison while shoving each other trying to get a lead.
I just laughed and kept running. Just another day..
