Chapter 4:
~Alexa~
Alexa woke up and jumped out of bed eagerily, throwing on some designer jeans and a cute blue tank that matched her eyes. Alexa walked into the kitchen. "Hey," she greeted America who was just entering as well. "Morning." America said.
Then Chris barged in greeting the two girls. "Hi." His hair was a mess and his clothes streaked with dirt.
Alexa looked over in surprise at Chris. "What happened, fell in the manure pile?" Alexa grinned.
Chris looked at her. "Spent the night on the side of the road with Styx." He said, almost as if it was a normal thing.
America laughed. "You're kidding right?"
"You could have been hit by a car. That wasn't very safe," Alexa mocked.
"Don't even start with me today." Chris snapped. He got a carton of milk out of the fridge and some eggs. "Anyone else want eggs?" He asked as he poured his milk.
America nodded. "Sure." She said.
Jake rubbed the sleep from his eyes as he entered the kitchen.
"Morning Jake." America said. "How ya doing?"
Jake shook his head, "I'm fine, thanks."
Chris nodded and put some eggs into a pan. He played back yesterday in his head. He sighed. He looked around at everyone. He finished making the eggs and set them onto plates.
America ate her eggs quickly, anxious to get outside.
Alexa sat down and ate her eggs as fast as she could when she noticed America was. She didn't want to be left with Chris alone, still plenty furious with him.
Chris received a text from his adopted father. "I have to go get some more horse feed." He said. He stood up and put his leftovers into Apollo's bowl. Apollo ran over and started to eat the eggs as Chris left the others.
America finished and put her plate in the sink. "Aren't you going to eat?" She asked Jake who was just sitting at the table.
Jake shrugged, "I don't have an appetite."
America laughed. "Alright, but don't starve yourself." She said.
Jake looked down at the table and nodded, smiling slightly.
"I've got to go jump Legend," Alexa said, dismissing herself. She started towards the door.
~Chris~
Chris went out to his car, a blue pick up, and started it, and left for the feed store. It was only a few minutes away, so it didn't take very long. Once he arrived, Chris grabbed a bag of feed and threw it into the bed of the truck. He went to pay for it when he saw someone. The last person on earth he'd want to see. His mother. He kept his head low and walked over to pay. Chris quickly got into his truck after paying and drove away. He raced back to the farm and arrived in under five minutes.
