A few hours later:

Gregor was at school waiting for the bus with other students. He double checked he had packed everything
"Mrs. Cormaci's box, check. Photo(of Luxa and himself), check. Friends..."
"Gregor, where have you been?" Angelina asked.
"We've been looking for you everywhere," Larry explained.
"Check," Gregor said casually, "Now we have to wait for the bus."
Larry and Angelina has moved to Virginia shortly after Gregor did. They also go to the same school as Gregor.
Gregor didn't like waiting. He wanted to go to the underland now. Just then the bus turned up. The door swung open and everyone rushed in. Gregor was the last one on.
"We've picked up a passenger if that's alright by you, she's going to New York so why not," the bus driver told the teacher.
"That's fine by me,' replied the Mr Perry
Gregor scanned the bus for the passenger, and found her instantly. She had pale skin and wore long pants, a long sleeve shirt, a hat and sunglasses. She was almost indistinguishable to everyone except Gregor.
"Luxa?" Gregor whispered to himself.
"Who is Luxa?" Angelina asked, curiously.
"No-one," Gregor replied shortly, while he looked around for a seat. He realised there was only one seat left that was next to the 'passenger'. He took the seat.
"Time to also some questions." Gregor thought to himself, but before he had a chance, she gave him a notebook and a pencil. She wrote on her notepad: so people hear not what we speak.
Gregor wrote: Luxa! It's really you! How did you get here.
Luxa: I was exploring a the dead land to find the portal to the overland. It lead to here, wherever here is.
Gregor: Here happens to be Virginia. Where's Aurora?
Luxa: Hopefully in the air tracking this strange object.
Gregor: How's the underland? What's everyone been up to?

Luxa informed Gregor on every detail of the underland since he left, about the other overlanders that have fallen. How everyone is going and the threat of the cutters. A few minutes into the conversation, for no reason at all Gregor clicked. Now he could 'see' Angelina and Larry looking at them with puzzled faces. Without turning around Gregor asked, "how long have you been watching us?" Gregor asked, without turning around. Now they exchanged nervous glances until Larry spoke up.
"Most of the trip."
"How long has this trip been?" Gregor asked as if nothing had happened while turning around to face his friends.
"About three hours. Why?" Angelina asked.
"We're near dinner, and I'm hungry."
"We need to talk later." She whispered back.
