It's been four years.
It doesn't seem all that long but it's been that long since I last saw them or talked to them.
I didn't even know if I should rsvp yes to the invitation, but my mom said it was time. And I felt like it too. More so than anything else, I wanted to be there to see my eonnie at her happiest. Because finally she was going to be married to her long-time beau.
Minzy smoothened her skirt with her right hand and felt like the lump on her throat was getting even bigger. She was about to get off the car when she saw a flash of blonde pass by. It was Chaelin, gorgeous and fashionable as usual. But for this occasion, as she loved the bride a lot, her eonnie toned down with a vintage Channel cocktail dress. Minzy didn't know whether to come out now while her eonnie was surrounded by reporters and fashion photographers or wait, to be able to quietly come in without a lot of people noticing her arrival. She was wearing a Dior that the bride had given her once upon a time. She hadn't worn it in years and she was happy to have a reason to wear it once again. But she wondered if she should have worn something more haute couture as she was sure that people would be in high fashion in the wedding hall. After all, the guests are from the most fashionable entertainment in Korea. YG has not changed much, except maybe for a few things she wished she had waited for. But her decision did lead to the many changes that occurred within the company. Some of which she was aware of, others – as an outsider – she was no longer allowed to know. They said that once a YG family member, always a YG family member. But if your contract expires, that is not true at all. It is especially true if you chose to walk away on your own accord.
Minzy decided that the chaos would cloak her arrival so she slipped out of the car and walked towards the less crowded entrance. She could hear Chaelin speaking in English as fluently as she has ever done – more so now that she has two US albums under her belt, one solo and one for 2NE1. She felt the twinge of regret but she tried to brush it off. She had moved on from that life. She chose to be independent, sadly it didn't turn out as well as she had hoped.
"You came!" She heard the happy pitch and the crowd turning. Minzy saw them open a path for Chaelin as she turned towards her eonnie's voice. "You really came! Thank God!" Before she could even react she was swept in a tight hug that was akin to one that was given to a prodigal child by her mother. She felt the tears dreading to fall but she heard Chaelin sush her. "Let's not cry here. Cameras everywhere." She heard the giggle that was so typically Chaelin, the raspy one that didn't sound so feminine but sounded so hers. "Oh those two are going to go nuts! They bet against each other whether you were coming or not. Of course, my money was on you. I knew you wouldn't miss this wedding for sure!" Chaelin was babbling on and on in a mix of Korean and English. Minzy knew that she was genuinely happy to see her. CL was the baddest female but this Chaelin Lee was her eonnie, one of the three that she missed for so long. Why did I stay away for so long?
They walked into the bride's room and she had to gasp, Dara and Bom were there of course, quietly sorting through the bride's veil. "Sit still so that you won't have to fix your dress so much." The maid of honor was exasperated at the fidgety bride. "Chaelin said she won't be late. So quit moving around so much."
"She never says she's going to be late. But she often is." The bride pouted. "She would be late for her own wedding when it finally happens."
"Gotta have a groom to be a bride." Chaelin walked towards the two Parks and grinned. "I got a surprise for you."
"Please nothing that would make me cry. If I had to call for a touch-up on more time, Pony is gonna kill me." The bride was adamant but when Minzy walked into the room at Chaelin's cue, she bawled. "Oh my...our Minzy..." Minzy ran to her eonnies and they all embraced each other tightly.
