A New Friend

Holly hesitates but comes with us. We get into our beat up semi truck and we start our trip to cure the world.

Holly asked me "Do you think this is a good idea?"

"Well," I said, "I don't know, I guess we will have to plan as we go."

"Hey look," Hannah shouted, "There is a gas station. I wonder if we could take the supplies and fill up the truck?"

I hop out and fill up the gas hog. I tell the girls to gather up as much food as they can.

"Maybe we could sleep here for the night," Hannah blurts out. "It has locks on the doors it should be fairly safe."

"No," I said, "we have to keep moving."

"Ok," the girls moped.

We got in the truck and started on the road so we could stay out of sight.

Holly asks "where are we going now that the disease center is trashed."

"Well," I said, "maybe the New York advanced hospital."

I saw a target store in the distance. I wondered if I could take some of the supplies. The doors were locked but we made it in through the service area. Most of the food was picked over but there was medicine and some first aid kits left. We put our stuff in the truck and got on the road

"How do you know that the New York Advanced hospital isn't destroyed like the disease center," Holly asks.

"That doesn't matter, for right now we just need to stay undercover and survive, I say.

In my mind I kept telling myself it would be fine, but the truth is I'm terrified. Night is coming fast and I don't know where to stay...

I tell the girls, " Keep your eye out for somewhere to stay tonight."

In the distance I see a half burnt out store sign. We stop at the step of the store and walk in. It looks like a big 5 store. We pulled up and tried the enterence.

"Wow, this place is a dump," I mutter.

We tried the backdoor and it was unlocked, luckily...We went in the abandoned store with caution. There were clothes everywhere on the ground, the place smelled like sweat. We use some of the air mattresses and the sleeping bags for the night.

"Did you check the locks on the doors," Holly asks.

"Yes," I yawned.

As I look at the ceiling I doze off and start dreaming.
