She opens her eyes with a start, met with the familiar white room that she woke up in just three years ago. She stands up with a stagger and attempts to limp to the door but a sharp pain goes up her spine and she stops. She sumps back onto the white bed and tries to remember what happened. A girl, a strange song, falling. She doesn't remember ever being as scared as she was on that roof. Then a thought struck( no pun intended). Did she succeed? Am I actually destined to fall in love? What happens then? She takes a breath. Suddenly calm she tells herself that it's okay if she's back here. Something must have gone right. The door opens and a familiar face appears.
" Hello Primrose." " What happened to me?" "You were struck." "What does that mean?!", Prim pulls at her hair in frustration. "Calm down, I'll tell you", Peony replies with a calm yet understanding voice. Prim closes her mouth and allows her to continue. "Okay, so don't freak out when I tell you this but.." Suddenly Peony looks nervous. That is not a good sign. "Another cupid has managed to use their own arrow and strike you. Now usually this wouldn't be a bad thing, you would be injured and you would get healed and you would be fine but she managed to find out some way to actually affect you with the arrow. This has only happened a few times and is usually self- inflicted." "Okay, okay hold on. You're telling me that that arrow actually worked?" "Yes." "Then how am I still a cupid. At least I think I am." "We didn't know at first but we finally figured it out. When we were removing the arrow, we noticed that it was slightly off. It didn't hit you directly in the heart so you were able to maintain your powers and abilities.... but there is an obstacle." Peony paused, waiting for a reaction. Receiving none, she continued. "You are destined to fall in love and when this happens, your job will become 89% harder." "How?" "I'm sure you've noticed some changes in yourself. You don't feel much remorse when striking someone who is already with someone else and you don't feel sorry when someone's heart is broken possibly over and over again." "Now that you mention it, I have been in these crazy moods, where I just cause extra trouble." "Yes that's completely normal. Part of being cupid is having mischievous and in some cases evil tendencies, showing no remorse and having no chill, shooting more than one person at a time, not caring what happens." " Okay so what does that have to do with all of this?" " As a cupid you are unable to feel love, but because you are able to feel that now, you will feel horrible about the things you do. It will tear you apart and you wont be able to do anything about it. You will feel like a monster." "Wow." Prim didn't know what to say about that. She will actually feel bad about the things she does.
Suddenly, she was afraid. How is she going to live like this? This was her job. She loved it, no matter how awful it was seeing people react to the pairings she made. Maybe this would be a good thing. She would have a little more empathy and she wouldn't feel like an emotionless jerk. As soon as she made that thought she crushed it. She would feel everything. Everything she did to someone, she would feel it within her own heart. She would feel heartless. It would tear her apart. Torture. It would be torture. Tears fell down her face uncontrollably. Peony tried to comfort her and after a while she calmed down. " Can I just stay here?" I'm sorry but you can't stay. You would disappear if you stayed any longer" "I have to go now?" "Sorry but yes." "But I'm not healed ye-" "That's what I came in here for. Drink this." Suddenly, a glass appeared in her hands and she handed it to Prim. It was filled with a gold liquid that almost looked like actual gold. She drank it. It was cold going down her throat but once it got to her stomach, she felt a warmness in her chest. "Goodbye Primrose.", said Peony with an apologetic smile. There was a bright light, then she was gone.
She was back in her bedroom, which was mysteriously clean and tidy, not how she left it. Strangely energetic, she went to go do what she does best. She climbed up to the roof and got comfortable, waiting for the lucky guy to pass by. Finally, she saw him exiting a coffee shop and she got into position. She couldn't see him very well which was odd since she has enhanced vision for aiming. She stepped closer and closer to the edge until she finally got a clear view of him. He was almost directly below her. She pulled her bow back and let go. Then everything went wrong, she was falling before she even noticed. She braced herself, having a strange case of deja vu. She landed on something hard. Oh no not again she thought to herself. She looked down, prepared for an unconscious person under her, but was relieved when she noticed it was a table. "That was an impressive fall." A strange voice said to her left. "Oh. You saw that. Yeah I'm glad I didn't land on a person this time." "This time.", the man replied incredulously. "Yep happens all the time.", she replied awkwardly. He laughed at that. Surprised she looked up and that was the biggest mistake she could ever make. She couldn't take his eyes off him. He was beautiful. She felt a sharp feeling in her chest and she cursed internally. I couldn't be him. I just struck him. He was supposed to meet some brunette- oh I'm the brunette. " Are you okay? Sorry I didn't ask.", he spoke suddenly. "Yeah yeah yeah I'm fine I'm fine!" Why am I saying everything twice?
It begins! So Prim finally met him. She's in for a treat next chapter! Sorry if this is kinda terrible, but i really wanted to tell what happened after what happened on the last chapter. I hope you like the story so far. Okay done talking. Bye!
