"W-Where am I? Is this... Hopes Peak High?"
Around me is a strange room. Not familiar in any way. The walls are a velvety shade of red and I'm laying on a comfortable white bed. I sat up and scratched my head, aching from whatever knocked me out earlier. On a desk nearby was a letter. I grabbed it and read the bold text.
Meet in the gym at 10:00 AM
I glanced up at the clock. 10:15 AM!?!?!?
I ran out of my room, slamming the door shut behind me and took off towards the gym. On the way I slammed into a boy going the same way. We hit the floor with a loud THUD and I found myself crushed under his weight. "Ugh, get off me you great lump!" I opened my eyes and stared into his. Strange, his left eye was grey and the right one was red, well, my right his left.
"Upupupupu... no need to be rude, perhaps you shouldn't have been running in the hallways. Didn't you bastards learn anything in elementary school?" He got up and snapped his fingers and just like that, he was gone.
That was...strange. I got up and brushed myself off. I continued more cautiously to the gym. I opened the doors to find fifteen other students already gathered. A boy with brown hair walked over and greeted me kindly.
"My name is Naegi. What's yours?"
"Uh... Y/N."
"Nice to meet you. Please tell me you know what's going on."
I shook my head. "Sorry, no clue."
Naegi looked down. "I think we're prisoners here..."
Suddenly there was a loud ringing sound and everyone covered their ears, including me.
"Mic test, Mic test, 1...2! Can everybody here me okay on this thing? Hiya kiddos! Time to pull out the welcome wagon! Not literally of course I'm not even sure what that means literally... But you get it!"
The guy with the crazy poofed-out hair looked relieved. "See? We aren't prisoners this is just how they do things here at Hope's Peak!"
"Well... you're half right..." A girl with long, light-purple hair replied quietly.
Wait... I recognize that voice. It's the boy I ran into. I turned to find out where the source of the noise was. It was emanating from a podium up on a stage. There he was. Calling us all together through his microphone.
When the boy jumped up from behind the podium every one gasped. I found myself just as surprised to see that he now takes the form of a strange teddy bear type of thing. What is this?
"Yes yes I know what you're all thinking and no I am not a high-tech build-a-bear reject. I am The principle of this illustrious constitution, Monokuma! Pleased to meet cha!
A fat guy I know to be named Yamada shouted out in a mix of fear and surprise. "MEEHHH!?!? I had a nightmare just like this once!"
Monokuma put a hand on his chin. "Young man some respect if you please? Mo-no-kuma! Your principle! Yes yes I'm nothing you've ever seen before, uncanny, Unsettling even! Yada yada moving right along." I think the strange bear noticed me because he looked at me and I swore his face turned pinkish. "Now all of you standing attention, give principle your snappiest 'Good Morning'!"
I boy with large eye brows and purple hair shot down into a bow and called out an exceptional greeting. "Good morning principle sir!"
A nervous girl with long pigtail braids seemed scared by this act of respect. "Please, don't encourage it!"
