Chapter 6

She scurried across the ground as fast as she could, ducking under branches, jumping over roots, and turning off the path.

She heard branches snapping in the distance behind her.

She glanced over her shoulder but could see any boys so she stopped and ducked behind a large tree

She watched from behind a root, crouched down, not dating to making a sound, or even take a breath as a few boys walked where she had just come from

She froze when a hand suddenly cupped her mouth, muting any noise she made in the struggle to get away but this hand was to strong

"Shhhhh" an older boy hissed in her ear, "I'm trying to help" he whispered

She stopped struggling

"I'm going to remove my hand, don't scream" he warned

She stayed frozen while he slowly pulled his hand away.

She began turning to look at who it was

It was the tallest of the boys aged seen so far, with a scar going across his cheek. He had his hood pulled over his head and bangs dangling in his eyes

"I'm Felix." He said

"Jade" she said in response, at least someone on the island had a little decency

"Follow me" he said turning.

She didn't move

He looked over his shoulder

"It's okay, come" he said encouragingly, holding out a hand

She glared at him a minute before taking it

He lead her through twists and turns, she had no clue where he was taking her

"The trick to this island is knowing who to trust" he said softly

She raised an eyebrow, stick out her bottom lip and nodded in thought, taking a mental note

She followed him another 15 minutes, just pondering her questions about the island while holding his hand. She felt.. At least a little better than earlier.

"Just through here." He said, pulling branches apart

She stepped through but instantly regretted it

She had stepped into the clearing she ran from, pan standing there nonchalantly, arms folded over his chest. Same devilish smirk plastered on his face.

"Hello deary" he said

She turned to Felix, "what!? You brought me back!?" She screeched

Felix broke into a smile, "pan said, whoever found you first could do whatever they wanted, with new comers, usually, emotional pain like betrayal is worse than physical pain so..."

Pan broke into a giggle, "nicely done Felix!" He exclaimed merrily, "gold star for you!"

Jade's face burned red with anger, "I've endured much worse emotional pain than that. You don't phase me!" She screamed

"Yes, I can see. That." Pan said puffing out his lips in a pouty way, motioning towards the scars and half healed cuts on her wrists

Her eyes grew dark in fury as she scanned her surroundings

She reached behind her and stole felix's dagger from his belt. She then flung it towards Peter, aiming for his heart

Right before it hit its mark he casually lifted his hand and the knife froze in the air.

He grabbed the dagger and nodded to Felix as he walked over to her.

Felix grabbed each of her arms and lifted her so her toes barley touched the ground

Pan's eyes dimmed to match the darkness hers held as he put the tip against her throat

"This one hold potential, she just needs to learn about the island first" pan said, face dropping all expression. Her spine gained chills at the soberness, "take her to the cages"
