Chapter 2

Skylar’s P.O.V.

I sighed and rolled out of bed. Today was supposed to be a day of freedom, but I had to go on my “date” with Spencer. Ugh Spencer. The story with him should have been simple. And it should have been a real relationship, but after everything that happened, it would have never been my choice that he was my boyfriend.

*Flashback*

“Spencer, meet Skylar Collins. Skylar meet Spencer Cole. You two will be spending a lot of time together just to start stirring up the paparazzi. Alright?” Spencer’s main manager, Ryan asked.

I smiled at Spencer. He seemed nice enough, and if this was the way to start of my career, why not? I wanted this more than anything.

I nodded, as did Spencer.

“Ok, so you will be going out tomorrow for the first time, and Skylar, realize that this is going to stir up some hate. Girls will love you, but others will hate you. You two are going to dinner at Tepanyaki. You will hold hands, hug, and kiss on the cheek.” I felt fear clutch my stomach. Dinner. We were going out to eat? Couldn’t we go somewhere that I wasn’t required to be eating?

“So Skylar, you have barely touched your food. Why aren’t you eating? Don’t you like it?” Spencer looked at me through his thick eyelashes.

I flinched. “Sorry I didn’t realize that I wasn’t eating.” I raised the fork up to my mouth and took a bite. Immediately my stomach flipped, and my brain started cursing at me for putting more junk in it. I continued to eat and eventually finished the plate.

“I should probably take you home now right?” Spencer smiled. I nodded my head and he grabbed my hand as we walked out the door. I felt a shock of electricity as his hand touched mine, but tried to ignore it, as this was a fake relationship.

“Over here Spencer!”

“Spencer is that your new girlfriend?”

“Who is she? Why haven’t you told anyone?”

The paparazzi swarmed us as we left the restaurant. My stomach lurched, and I began to feel sick. Stupid food. Spencer helped me into his car, and he slid in and we drove off.

As we reached my house Spencer got out and helped me out of the car.

“Thanks for coming tonight, I know that this fake relationship is weird, but I’m glad that you were willing to do it. And I’m grateful that no real feelings have to be involved.”

*End Flashback*

Ugh stupid fake publicity stunts. They ruin everything. I heard my phone buzz from the table next to my bed and saw I had a text from Lily.

Lily: Hey my gorgeous best friend! So don’t forget about the date in 2 hours with Spencer. You guys are just going to hang out at the park! I love you! Xx

2 hours. I might as well get ready, no matter how much I am dreading it. I grabbed my geek crop top, ripped skinny jeans, and black combat boots. I took my clothes into the bathroom and got into the shower.

As the warm water hit my cold skin I started thinking more about the situation. How did I get myself into this mess? It had all started with one word. Food.

After shampooing and conditioning my hair, I got out. I grabbed the towel and dried myself off, then put my outfit on. I dug through my makeup bag and found my eyeliner. After applying it all around my eyes, I grabbed the mascara and foundation. I wasn’t a huge fan of makeup, but eyeliner, mascara, and foundation were necessities. After finishing my makeup, I got to work on my hair. Hair was an absolute pain. I blew it dry and then curled it into beach waves, after much resistance from my hair. As I finished my phone buzzed.
