Hold My Hand

Luffy's POV

Modern Day AU

I waited for Law at the bus stop, silently tapping on the silver metal chair as the clock ticked by. Law was a lot later than usual, seeing as the sun was already at its peak, about to set, when usually we'd  be home by this time.

I checked the bus time table, cursing as it read that the last bus came in another five minutes. If Law wasn't there by then, I'd have to leave without him.

I scurried through my shoulder bag, searching for my phone in the large amounts of food wrapppers left in there. Once I found it, I immediately dialed his number, tapping my foot impatiently. As I heard the phone click from the other side of the line, signalling that the other had picked up, quicker than the speed of light, I spoke with worry and concern.

"Law?! Where are you?! The last bus comes in.... 3 minutes!"

"I'm still at the hospital, they extended my shift. Just go home,  I'll meet you there."

"Law..."

"Yes? What is it? I need it to be quick, I have a patient."

".... Actually don't worry, I'll wait for you... I'll be at the bus stop...."

"Luffy I'm sorr-"

And with that I pressed the end call button. I didn't want to hear anymore excuses. For the past three weeks, I haven't once gotten to go home with him. His shifts are always being extended and when I hear him speak to a patient it always happens to be a female.

'Does he not love me anymore?'

'Am I not good enough?'

'Did he get bored of me?'

I felt the tears roll down my cheeks, for the hundredth time these past weeks. When we're at home, he goes straight to bed. He says hello and gives me "I'm home" kiss, but nothing else, just a hello I'm home and I'm off to bed.

'He probably is bored of me, huh?'

The bus had already passed about forty-five minutes ago, and I was still seated at the bus stop waitijg for him.

I closed my eyes,not wanting for more tears threatening to come out. But a certain noise stopped me from keeping my eyes shut.

I heard running and panting, as if someone was in a real big hurry. I closed my eyes once again and paid no attention to who or whatsoever was coming along.

"Luffy!"

I opened my eyesand there infront of me was my extended shift boyfriend, Law.

"I'm sorry,"

I faked a smile and stood up,

"No no its fine. I understand."

"I'm guessing the bus already went?"

"Yeah..."

"Luffy... you're eyes are red and puffy. Have you.... have you been crying?"

"Wh-what? No no, just sleepy, that's all."

"... If you say so,"

I could hear the doubt in his voice but I brushed that aside. I can't be so selfish, wanting him all to myself.

"Guessing like we'll be having some fun," Law said, winking.

"Wh-what...?"

He grabbed my hand and walked towards the direction of our house. Boy am I glad this isn't Zoro, I wonder how Sanji must feel, getting tugged along the wrong direction.

"Law..."

"Yeah?"

"...Let go of my hand,"

"What? Why?"

"Just do it..."

"Okay..."

I held his hand properly, our fingers intertwined.

"And now, you can't ever go anywhere without me. And you won't ever leave me, ...right?"

"Of course. I'll never leave you, forever and always."

"Good."

"...so I'm guessing you're hungry?"

"How'd you know?"
