The Simulator

Prologue

A bell rings signaling that any stragglers still in the hallway were definitely late for their classes. You could here the shuffling of feet as the last few students begrudgingly headed to class. Now I know what your thinking Here we go with another normal life changing story about a teenagers school life. Let me go ahead and tell you, there is no way in hell anyone would think life in Sector-GA is normal.( hence the name). Around here the phrase "survival of the fittest" is taken to a whole new level. Dozens of years ago some phsycho-ball set off a nuclear chain reaction between nuclear power plants, causing an explosion killing and destroying most of Northern U.S.A. More than half of southern U.S.A was saved. With South America angry at us our people struggled to cross the border so, my grandparents and most of the people in the south went into bunkers for the past seventy something years. Then scientist figured out it was safe to come out as long as people stayed in the most southern sectors. The few countries that had been on good terms with us when it happened used a process called Annihilating RZ to lower the levels of radiation. Whatever it did, it cleared up the radiation dozens of years faster than it originally would. The few sectors that were okay to live in consisted of: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern California. Each state was given a new name determined by their state's initials. I live in what used to be Georgia, now called Sector- GA. The nine sectors are ruled by what we call The Council. Its a group of people who were, in the old world, either rich, important, or both. This particular group makes up the government for our Sectors. Here, like normal kids, we go to school, have friends and family, and hard working parents. But like I said , there's nothing normal about life in Sector-GA. The year is 2230, Coming up is the annual Semi-Simulators. This is what people in the United Sectors do now. To keep the people safe and from stopping another idiot from destroying the rest of our home. Every year all fifteen-year-olds are tested in every category in a simulative game. If your to be one of the five to win? Your sent away to a camp to be trained for The Simulator. Where you will fight too the death.
