It had been about a month since Zo, I call her that for short, started dating and she had started acting funny, skipping out on dates and missing my calls. I needed clarity, I needed her.

Without thinking I headed to her house, her car was parked out front, she couldn't run from me now. I stood at her front door calling her, much to my surprise she answered the phone.

"What?" she must not have checked the caller id and she sounded like she had just woken up.

"Zo, it's Ben, I'm outside can you let me in?"

"It's unlocked, James leaves it open after he leaves."

"I'll see you in a few."

"I'm in my room."

"Okay." I hung up the phone and walked into her very empty house. I headed down the hall toward her room the only noise in the house was the sound of my footfalls on the wood floor. I knocked on her door, I didnt want to burst in and scare her.

"Just a second." her voice sounded half of what it normally was, she opened the door and pulled me inside.

"Zora, are you okay?" I murmured watching her move about the room, she looked desperate.

"Do I look okay Ben?" she snapped moving to sit on her bed, she looked desheveled.

"I didnt mean it like that." I moved to grab her hand but she pulled away, "Zo." I murmured crawling up beside her. She had nothing on but a baggy tee shirt and panties. Clearly she didn't care what I saw.

"What do you want?" she sounded distressed.

"I just was curious as to why you've been acting distant." I pulled her in close causing her to bite her lip.

"I've been hanging out with Danny...He said he could help me with my music." She looked up at me, her eyes looked less vibrant and her cheeks were slightly sunken in. My heart sank, I was praying he didnt give her drugs.

"What did he give you?" She shook her head, "He didn't give you anything?"

"He didn't give me anything but advice. I just haven't been feeling myself." She forced her way out of my arms and toward her closet, "You don't have to ask me why, I don't know." She slid her shirt off, "Will you pick something for me to wear?" she had her hands over her arms over her chest so I wouldn't see too much.

"Would you just stay like that?" I laughed as she grabbed a bra and put it on just so she could playfully punch me in the arm, I pulled her onto the bed tickling her, I could feel the scars on her skin, she had lost weight but I wasn't going to ask about it.

"BENJAMIN PAUL BRUCE!" She laughed squirming under me.

"ZORA JULIET CASSELLS!" I chuckled as I continued tickling her. She regained that light in her eyes once I stopped tickling her.

"Can I get dressed now?" she breathed looking up at me smiling.

I shook my head, "Will you tell me what's wrong?" Her face seemed to fall.

"Instead of cutting I just dont eat when I want to cut." She curled up into a small ball, laying on her side.

"How long has it been since you last ate?" This worried me, fixing one problem only caused another.

"Twelve hours." She got out of bed grabbing a pair of shorts and tanktop, "I'm hungry will you bring me to lunch?"

"I'll make you something?"

"Ben, no."

"Zora."

"I'm starting to regret telling you." she pulled on a leather Jacket and left her room.

"Why?" I wanted to get her to calm down.

"I'm going to go get lunch... maybe visit Danny." she headed toward her car.

I knew she was hurting, "Zora... I know what will make you feel better."

"What?"

I grabbed her hand and pulled her into me, "I was going to give you this on our next date." She arched an eyebrow our faces were only inches apart. I had to kiss her before doing anything. She didn't react except to pull away.

"Ben I'm not in the mood to play around, what were you going to give me?" She remained in my arms, but it hurt to know that when I kissed her she didnt want it.

I pulled a black box from my pocket, "It's a promise ring. I'm going on tour soon and I wanted to give you this as my promise that I won't cheat on you."

"I'm shocked you haven't yet." She whispered meekly looking at the ring and then back up at me.

I blinked stunned at her words, "Why?" Who would cheat on a girl like her?

"I'm succeptible to being cheated on. It's because I don't put out." She murmured, "There was only one guy that stuck around long enough." Her face got that pained look again.

"Zo, I wouldn't cheat on you." I murmured, "Let's go and get you some lunch."

She smiled pulling me out of her room, "I want a burger."

"In N' Out?" She nodded. I hugged her small frame to my side and led her to my car.

After grabbing a bite to eat she requested that we went straight to the studio.

"I have something that you might want to see." she murmured as we drove.

"What is that?" I asked looking at her for a moment before returning my attention to driving.

"It's a surprise."
