Nathan's POV:

I had one last thing on the list. Just some cheese. She is going to be so happy and so surprised. I found the cheese and put it in my cart before heading towards the cash register. I gave the woman the money and walked out of the store with my three bags of groceries.

Parking my car in the driveway my mind came to think about her again. Her dirty blonde hair and her beautiful ocean blue eyes, her laugh when I tickles her, the sound of her voice. I could not wait to see her again. She would be home I a couple of hours. I checked my pocket to see if the ring is still there, it is. I start unpacking the groceries before setting the table in the living room. I put on a nice white cloth, then I set out plates. I went down to the cellar to get the nicest kind of red wine. I took it upstairs and went to the kitchen to get glasses. I put them on the table before heading into the kitchen to start making the lasagna. That is her favorite food. She loves it.

Half an hour later, the lasagna is finished and I make sure the baguettes are finished too before carrying the food out on the table. I lit some candles on the table, open the bottle of wine, and pour it into the glasses. I am just about to put rose pedals on the floor when the phone rings “Hello?”  Her voice make me smile every time I hear it “Hey babe. I’m leaving now so I’ll be home in 20 minutes” I look around the room “Perfect! See you then. I love you” “I love you too,” she says before hanging up. I put the rose pedals on the floor and check my pocket again, still there.

After changing into a nice pair of jeans, a white shirt and a black blazer. I grab my guitar on the way downstairs. When I get back into the living room, I turn of the lights and check my pockets once again, still there. She should be here any minute now. I sit down on the couch and start playing as the door opens.

Kevin’s POV:

Not again. He has done it again. The room is dark except for all the small candles that he lit all over the room. He has covered the floor in rose pedals and he has made dinner. He even opened a bottle of red wine, and now he is sitting on the couch playing his guitar. “Nathan… not again” I carefully say as I walk into the room. “Kev!” He says and stands up “You can’t be here, she is right around the corner” then he smiles “I’m going to propose to her” I sight “She’s not going to come Nate…” he walks over to the couch and sit down again. He starts playing on his guitar again and I recognize the song as Heaven by Bryan Adams. As his best friend, I really hate to see him like this. It has been three years and he still does this on the same day every single year. “Nate… she has been d-“He interrupts saying “Kev… You are my best friend and I’m sorry for chasing you off, but you need to go now” He continues to play the guitar. I was about to walk out the door, but stop when I hear his voice.

“Baby you're all that I want

When you're lyin' here in my arms

I'm findin' it hard to believe

We're in heaven

And love is all that I need

And I found it there in your heart

It isn't too hard to see

We're in heaven…”

That is all I can take before walking out of there with tears in my eyes.
