She’s at the kitchen of her shop, checking everything. She was chatting with one of her kitchen crew and the sous chef when the receptionist of her shop entered the kitchen and approached her.

“Mam, Mr. Madrigal is looking for you.”  Malene, her receptionist told her with her usual warm smile. She nodded and smiled at her employee.

“I’ll be there in a few, give him his usual table.” She instructed her front desk person and continued to give instructions to the kitchen staff and her sous chef.

Seconds after she strode out of the industrial kitchen and walked towards the back of the shop, a corner in her shop was reserved for her and her friends and there he is; her best bud and confidant.

“Khalem, what are you doing here? Tumawag ka na kanina sabi mo lang you are double checking. Kaya pala susulpot ka.” She greeted him and smiled as Khalem stood out of the chair he was seated in.

Khalem gave her a meaningful smile and hugged her tightly.

“How’s my Nashie?” He whispered, his voice a mixture of something she can’t pin point.

She lightly pushed away from his grasped and gave him a curious eye. “What’s with the hug? Halos hindi ako makahinga and you did not answer my query. Why are you suddenly here, at the middle of working hours?”

“I am the boss, remember. So don’t worry.” He said to her and gave her an assuring wink. Natasha smiled and shook her head.

“So you miss me, kaya ka nandito?” She queried again and lifted her hand to signal for a waiter.

One of her trusted serving person approached them.

“Mr. Madrigal’s usual, please; Steven and I’ll have my usual cappuccino.” She ordered as Steven nodded and strode away from them.

“I am here because I’ll instruct you to go home.” Khalem finally said and smiled at her. Natasha furrowed her brows and looked at him.

“Roxanne will not be here. It is my day to be here, you know I can’t leave the shop.” She said as she wondered why her friend is asking her to go home.

Khalem smiled and shook his head, mysteriously. “Rox will be here in a few. She’ll cover for you.” He said to her.

“Why? She has classes, diba?” Natasha asked as she continues to be at awe.

Roxanne, her best friend and business partner is taking up her post graduate studies and that is the main reason why they alternate in overseeing their business. Natasha is more on the Kitchen and Roxanne is more on the managing side but when Roxanne have her classes, Natasha is left doing both. And this is one of the days she managing and baking at the same time, the exact reason why she can’t leave the shop.

Natasha was about to protest more but in just a jiffy her best friend arrived and approached them.
