You were a a music education major at a university in the bustling city of Seoul. You had been in Korea for over a year now and so far life has been great for you. You had been accepted to the university of your dreams, had a small apartment, and a job at Dreamland Bookstore.
You usually get "Shouldn't you be working at a music store?" Or "A music education major working at a bookstore?" when you tell people where you work, but you don't mind because you're a book worm at heart and it pays well.
Dreamland Bookstore is quite small and could be easily missed by individuals, but it is popular around the neighborhood. Many people come in regularly and there's hardly any new costumers, so you learned most of the costumers names and even have small conversations with them.
Today was a slow day at Dreamland Bookstore. It was pouring rain outside and it looked like it wasn't going to stop for a while. Most people decided to stay inside and not challenge the cold droplets. You are sitting behind the counter, working on homework from university, bored out of your mind when a familiar bell signals a costumer.
"Hello and welcome to Dreamland Bookstore! May I help you find anything?" You said in a friendly yet professional voice. You noticed that the costumer who took on the raging rain was new. He wore a white t-shirt with a black jacket over and jeans. His grey hair was fading, but it suited him. His eyes are slightly slanted and small, but they were cute to you. He hadn't turned to face you yet, so you saw his jawline and immediately started to stare him down. You blushed as you were gawking at him, but it quickly went away.
He shook the water out of his fading gray hair and turned to face you. When eye contact was made between you two, his cheeks became a light pink.
'How cute! Wait...isn't he Hoshi from Seventeen?' You blushed again because you had just made eye contact with your bias. You quickly shook it away, not wanting to alarm him. So instead you made up your mind that you would treat him like all of the other treasured costumers.
"U-uh yes. I-I was wondering if have a book that you can recommend for me?"
He stuttered while looking at the carpet.
'Aww he stuttered and his voice is sweet. Wait. Stop it y/n! Be professional!'
"Sure! What genres do you like to read?" You ask, happy that you can help him.
"Um...anything I guess," he replied while scratching the back of his neck. He finally looks up and flashes you a small smile. His eyes slightly scrunch up and you feel butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
"Hmm," you put your finger to your lips and wonder which book you should show him. Suddenly you have an idea and smile widely at him. You walk out from behind the counter and gestured for him to follow you. As you led him through the many isle of books, you became more and more excited to show him the book. You absolutely adored the book and hopefully he will too.
"Here we are! Looking for Alaska by John Green," you say as you pulled the hardback book off the shelf.
"It's a young-adult fiction book. It's about a lonely high school boy transferring to a boarding school and he meets new people. You know just the same old student transferring schools and having new experiences, but," you pause and hand the book to him. He looks at you with curiosity, but waits for you to finish.
"He meets a girl who changes his life forever. The book does a really great job of showing the before and after of his life. This is my favorite book so far, so maybe you'll like it too." You finish with a small smile.
"Sounds interesting. I'll buy it, but then again I would probably buy any book you recommend. You look like you know your books," he smiles while admiring the book in his hands. You blush at this and try hard to fight it off before he looks at you.
"Great!" You say and turn to head towards the counter, "would you like to browse some more or would you like to checkout now?"
He seemed to be deep in thought. He was biting his lip and his brows were scrunched up while he had a battle in his head.
'He's looks cute when he's concentrating. Ah this has to be a dream or something!' you thought.
"I think I'll buy this now," he says when he finally decides. He looks into your eyes again and you can't help but feel the butterflies starting to flutter again.
"Okay. Please follow me." You say, a tiny bit of disappointment in your voice. You didn't want this to end. It wasn't usual for one of your bias to walk into your work. You reached the cash register and check out the book for him.
"That will be 24000 won," you exclaim. He quickly pays and smiles excitedly when you hand him the bag with the book carefully wrapped in paper.
"Thank you..." he hesitates and quickly looks at your name tag. He looks directly into your eyes and smiles, "thank you y/n."
You smile.
"It's my pleasure...u-um," now you're the one who's stuttering. You don't want him to know that you know he's an idol and look down when shyness consumes you. Apparently, he believes that you were shy because you didn't know his name and chuckles.
"Soonyoung, but my friends call me Hoshi."
'Good job (y/n)! He believes that you don't know he's an idol.'
"Hoshi," you say. The name flowing from your mouth. You both smile at each other.
" Please come again, Hoshi!" You say as he heads to the door.
"I will! Thanks again y/n," and walks out the door. A couple seconds later, his head pops out of the door,
"Oh! Be expecting me when I finish the book. Maybe we can do this again," he winks at you, then leaves. You smile widely and already think of the day when Hoshi will come back again.
