Long ago, there once was a gigantic, 150 meter beast as old as time itself. It destroyed entire villages. It was the most nightmarish thing at the time, leaving nothing left at the villages it terrorised. It was unstoppable by any force known to man. They shot it with ballistae, stabbed it with swords, and shot it with fire, but they couldn't kill it no matter what they tried. It was known as Halitus Ignis.
One day, a brave, young adventurer decided he wanted to put an end to this monster's destruction. So, he ventures out in search of this mighty beast. Not knowing whether he would come back alive or not, he grabbed all of his supplies, his bow and quiver, and his trusty sword. Then, he set out.
On his way, people asked the young adventurer what he was doing. When he told them he was going out to slay the beast, they thought he was crazy.
So, he just moved on.
Eventually, he came across a very wealthy kingdom. He decided to stay there for a while. When he learned of the many riches of the kingdom, he got an idea. He encouraged the king to place some of the gold outside of the castle walls to lure the beast over. But, the king thought it was an absurd idea and refused to do it.
Later that night, the young adventurer snuck into the Treasury and put some of the gold outside of the castle walls to lure the beast to him. Sure enough, the beast saw the gold and was immediately hooked. When it got near enough, the adventurer jumped onto the beast's back and shot it in the head with a bow. But, the arrow just broke in half. Then, realizing the bow was useless, he threw it to the ground and drew his sword. He then stabbed it i n the head, but the sword broke in half. He then only had one more option; he had to kill it from the inside.
He had to time this right. He waited until just the right moment and jumped into the creature's mouth. Then, taking the half of his sword that was left, he threw it down the beast's throat.
After the beast realized that it was
going to die, it shot a jet of fire out of it's mouth, killing the adventurer. Then, it died. Halitus Ignis was dead.
All across the land, everyone celebrated the death of the creature. It was buried in the center of town, and a fire pit was built on top of it. Right after the last stone on the fire pit was placed down, the pit instantly was lit. To this day, the pit remains burning in honor of that brave adventurer who died to save the world from an ancient creature.
