Chapter 12:
I stopped screaming when someone turned on the lights. I looked at Marcis, but suddenly he was gone. Poof.
"Lexi?" It was Jake. I swallowed hard.
I tried to find something to say, but I was to sacred. The numbness swallowed and was starting to digest.
"Are you okay?" He pressed on, coming closer to me. He put a concerned hand on my shoulder. His touch was warm, and for some reason it made me go cold all over. I couldn't take it anymore.
My body went on autopilot and tears ran down my face. I flicked his hand of and rocketed towards the stairs. I didn't really know where I was going, but I had a pretty good guess.
Before I knew it I was hurtling through Cody's door. He was awake. I tried to say his name or something but I couldn't. I was choking on air. I was beginning to hyperventilate. He pulled me down into his lap trying to calm me.
I saw him! I saw Marcis again! I wanted to say, but I couldn't. My body wouldn't do anything, it was to busy trying to find air.
"Lexi, it's okay." Cody, who was now rocking us back and forth said. "Lexi, please stop."
CAN'T YOU SEE I'M TRYING?!?! I wanted so desperately to shout. Instead, I focused as much as I could to try to move my head to look up at him. Hoping one look in the eye would explain something.
Cody's P.O.V.
Trying to calm a hyperventilating person isn't exactly the most easy thing. Lexi looked up at me, she looked really scared, and it made me sad that I couldn't calm her. It was like she was trying to tell me something, but what? There were so many things, so many possibilities.
Jake came in saying something but I cut him off.
"What happened to her?"
"Didn't you hear her screaming?!"
Oddly, "No."
"Well I was coming down stairs and I heard screaming and Lexi was down there. I tried to ask her what was wrong but she just ran up here."
Realization hit me. I looked at Lexi. "Did you see Marcis again?" I asked quietly trying to make it to where he couldn't hear. She manged a small nod.
"Whose Marcis? What the heck is going on?" Jake asked frustrated, but I ignored him.
"Can you go wake up Alli?" I asked him. he nodded and left the room with a sigh.
Lexi had calmed down a bit. she was still breathing weird.
"I told you I didn't trust him." She said, more whispered, with heavy gasp between each word.
"What are you talking about, Lexi?"
She looked away for a moment, then back. She had this look to her- almost as if she- I can't even explain it, but it was a look- one of many , that I'd never forget.
"Jake."
Jake came back in with Alli, Lexi crawled out of my lap. Alli went straight to Lexi while Jake came over to me. "Seriously dude, what the hell is going on?" He spoke quietly.
I watched from the corner of my eye ask Alli led Lexi out of the room. He sat down on the bed, expecting some sort of explanation. I was silent for a while, thoughts were bust in my mind, each one barely having time to be thought before the next one started.
