summary: Erwin and Levi find unconventional uses for 3DM gear that really don't improve their lives as much as they think whatsoeverThe game started while the two of them stood atop the wall. Erwin stood stiffly beside Levi, watching the landscape in front of them. Every moment or so, Erwin would hear Levi shoot a grappling line into the air, hear him chuckle almost inaudibly, then bring the line back. Erwin didn't look over to see what he was doing, but eventually his eyes wandered over to his left where Levi was shooting lines at an angry hawk.
"What are you doing?" Erwin had asked.
"Don't know, but it's fun." Levi replied with the trace of a smile on his lips.
The game went like this, one of them would find a completely unconventional use for 3DM gear to perform a daily task, and then the other trying to find an either equally or even more unconventional use for it, and so on. One of the most memorable and most unconventional of uses was when Erwin managed to tie himself up in the grappling cables and hang himself upside down from the ceiling for nearly an hour and a half before Levi wandered to his office looking for him. (Levi had nearly dropped the pile of paperwork in his arms when he walked into the room. "What the fuck?" He snapped. "I made a swing." Erwin had stated proudly.)
Levi walked into the laundry room one evening with a wicker basket of blood stained jackets and he quirked an eyebrow at the strange contraption set up on the ceiling. A 3DM line was embedded into one wall, and on the other side, the metal box containing the rest of the line was crudely nailed to the wall. Clean shirts and capes were neatly clipped to the line like a tidy makeshift clothesline. Levi shook his head and continued with the washing.

It was Levi's turn to play the game. Erwin had left for a few hours which have Levi a chance to think of a plan. He gathered up at least five sets of gear and hastily climbed a tree just outside hq where Erwin could see him when he returned. Levi weaved together the cables and made a decent sized basket-like hammock high in a tree. He secured the cables by wrapping them around the trunk of the tree and tying them hastily when he heard Erwin's horse on the path.
"What are you doing up there?" He could hear Erwin's voice come into range just underneath his basket.
Levi poked his head over the edge of the basket and grinned down at Erwin. "Climb up." He insisted, patting the spot in the basket next to him.
Erwin sighed and tied his horse to the tree and climbed up, nearly falling on top of Levi in the process of actually getting into the basket.
With wide eyes, Levi pointed to the distance. "You can see past the walls from here." He murmured in awe.
The horizon was painted orange and red, and the sky above them was splattered with hues of purple and blue, white stars winking at them from high above.
"It's beautiful up here." Erwin's eyes shone in the dying light of the sun.
Levi tore his gaze from the sky, an it fell upon Erwin's face nearly inches from his own. "It is isn't it." He agreed, leaning closer towards Erwin's lips as he spoke in a hush tone.
Then they fell out of the tree.
