"Today is going to be amazing" Samantha told herself as she looked in the mirror. It was the day of her strings groups performance at Concert Festival. Concert Festival was not an actual festival. Basically the group played for some judges and got rated on how well they played and stuff. Boring, but hey, they got out of school. The group entered the room and immediately a wave of panic washed over Samantha. There was so much pressure on her to be absolutely perfect because she was the leader of the violas. She was first chair. If she screwed up, she screwed the whole section up. She tried so hard to calm herself down but she was only getting worse. After a very long warm up time, they were finally ready to begin. First off, they all had to show the judges how well they tuned as a group. The first chair first violin, Logan, stood up and started playing his A string so everyone could tune. All of a sudden, his violin made a high pitched squeaking noise that physically hurt everyone's ears. Samantha couldn't help it; she burst out laughing. It was only something a first chair could understand. The pressure to be perfect being so great that you eventually screwed up. Samantha tried to hide her giggle behind her hand. Then, she and Logan locked eyes and it was like the world had just frozen. Slowly, a smile spread across Logan's face as he realized how badly he'd screwed up. But his eyes didn't leave hers. A tingly feeling spread all through Samantha. Suddenly, every wall she had ever put around her heart, crumbled. She let him in as easy as that. She immediately regretted it. Anytime she let someone close, she ended up getting hurt. But maybe, just maybe, this one would be different.
