Dulce relaxed beside the pool and sipped the lemonade in bikini wear. Cynthia stared out to her from the window. She was acting like a child and she knew it. She was angry that someone was in her home and acting like she owned everything in it. She hated the feeling and tried her best to push it away.
"morning darling?", Harriet walked straight to the drawer.
"I see you were well prepared for your guest mother. You knew she was coming along right?"
She tried to remain calm but Harriet sensed the anger in her tone.
"yes I did..."
"but you chose not to tell me mom right?"
Harriet turned to her. She met her boiling eyes.
"am sorry. I didn't think it was important."
"I see. I promised Nikki I'd go so am leaving now. She's helping me look for a house near her place. "
Harriet widened her eyes. She had not told her about her moving out.
"what are you trying to say sweetie? Why are you so upset about Dulce?"
"nothing... I just want to begin my life, alone."
She immediately walked out. She was angry and upset at the same time. She felt like bursting into tears. She clenched her fists to control herself. It wasn't just about Dulce. It was also about Pedro. It was natural for her to feel that way because there was a lady in his life while she wanted to be the only one. The feeling made her feel stupid.
"he's your brother stupid girl. He sees you as a sister and nothing more.", she thought.
She ran her hands through her hair behind her ears and picked up the keys. She picked up the keys and headed to the parking. She stopped midway and walked to the pool.
"I was told you were looking for me by Earl. Any problem?"
Dulce looked up and met her eyes. So cold.
"I know that you don't like me but you'll just have to deal with me. I am not planning to leave any time soon darling", she rolled her eyes on her.
"what makes you think that way?
"everything...you act as if I've taken something from you."
Cynthia walked out of her. Dulce was right. She never had a guy before and just to think that something nice was going to happen, all turned into nightmare. She wanted to be alone. She wanted to go far away from their house and moving out was the best option. She started the car and drove off. Minutes melted into hours and night fell. Her phone was off. Harriet was going crazy. She called Nikita several times thinking that she'd appear at her place within the short time she didn't call. Cynthia hated how worried Harriet got each time she was out late for reasons best known only to her. Earl and Pedro called her phone without non stop .
"I can't imagine this is happening again to your family Pedro."
Harriet stared at her. What could she be knowing about her family?. She had warned her sons not to talk about Cynthia with anyone. A car pulled over outside.
"I am sure that's her", Dulce said.
Harriet rushed to the door. She felt her muscles relax when she saw her.
"hello mother,"
"don't do that to me again.", she embraced her.
"may we know where you are coming from Cynthia?", Dulce asked her. She walked to Earl and hugged him.
"you almost killed us Cynthia. Where were you?"
"I'll tell you all later let me sleep. I'll be going to work very early tomorrow.", she kissed his forehead.
"what about us?"
"Dulce that's enough...let her be"
"no Pedro. She owes us explanations as to why she's this late!"
"do you know something pretty girl? I am not your mother or sister or your best friend so stop playing the concerned fellow. It doesn't suit you and I am non of your business. You know nothing about me so shut up."
"you think so?, I know everything about you and I'll tell you why Pedro hates you."
"Pedro hates me?", she asked with widened eyes fixed on Pedro.
"Dulce you will not be disrespectful in my house. Go to your room and leave this place tomorrow in the morning."
She turned to Harriet without fear and gave her a daring look.
"I am leaving right away but after I teach this orphan a lesson. . It's time you leave Harriet with her kids alone. Stop staying under the same roof thinking that you are so loved. Maybe Earl and your mother but not Pedro. He hates you and do you know why?, Harriet chose you over them. She sent them to study away just to protect a daughter of thieves."
Cynthia kept quit. She looked at Harriet as tears fell from her eyes.
"Pedro get this devil out of my house!". Cynthia went upstairs in silence. She shut the door and leaned on it sobbing. She couldn't understand how Pedro reasoned. Harriet knocked on her door. She opened for her and together sat on the bed. Harriet pushed Cynthia's hair behind her ears and kissed her forehead.
"You are my pretty little doll hunny. Pedro doesn't matter just like those other days. It's you and I running our own worlds."
Her cheeks had turned red from crying. Harriet stroke her cheeks and wiped her tears.
"mom am feeling dizzy," she shut her eyes and opened them again. Everything was blur.
"hunny relax", she got up for the pillows and before she could reach for them Cynthia passed out. It wasn't the first time it happened. Cynthia couldn't take any form of pressure or intense pain. Pedro pushed the door and walked in. Earl followed him.
Harriet took off her shoes and pulled her onto the pillows.
"Pedro I am not sure if I want to see you right now or not. Cynthia shouldn't see you when she gets up either and I hope Dulce is nolonger here."
"she's gone mother and I am sorry for what just happened down there."
Earl sat near Cynthia.
"she's fallen asleep so fast,"
"no Earl she fainted."
"what?! ", Pedro retorted as he walked to the bed.
"Pedro why did you reveal that much to that stupid girl?"
"we've been dating for quite a long time and I told her about Cynthia when we started dating. I never thought she'd still remember all those things."
"now you know son and now Cynthia has better reasons to move out as she had planned."
"am sorry mother. That was me before. I will make it up to her and try my best to stop her from leaving."
"alright then. I'll excuse you but don't take long in here. You have to leave before she wakes up. Earl let's go."
"Pedro you're lucky mom is around. You'd be in the ICU right now. Goodnight."
They left. Earl was a man of few words and straight forward. He wasn't like Pedro. Pedro watched her turn to his side and slowly opened her eyes. She looked at him. She looked fragile and innocent. Her eyes were bright and attractive. They stared at each other. He had changed alot. Nothing that Dulce said looked like him.
"how are you feeling now?"
"don't act like you are concerned. Get out of my room."
"we'll talk tomorrow. Goodnight"
